Discussion Board 2
Having the ability to communicate with one another and God is part of God's plan
for our lives.
1.
Colossians 4:6
2.
Romans 10:17
Paul tells us in Colossians 4:6 that our speech is to be with grace and seasoned with salt when we
answer one another. As Christians God wants us to have kind words for each other when communicating. Often it is easy to think of something harsh to say, but so much more can be said when we say it with grace! Paul also explains in Romans 10:17 that faith, the belief in God, comes by hearing and then hearing by the word of God. Many times, the best communication is silent or reading. God is telling us that the best way to communicate with him is by reading His word!
The Bible is the absolute truth; therefore, as follows of Christ, we must evaluate
the truth of all other communication against the Bible.
1.
Malachi 3:6
2.
Hebrews 13:8
3.
Matthew 24:35
4.
John 14:6
These four verses explain one simple truth, that God is a God of unchanging and He is a God of truth. He is the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow! John 14:6 says that God is the way, truth and life. Then if God is truth and He is unchanging, by logic He much be the absolute truth. The article by Dr David Reagan titled “Absolute Truth: Does it exist?” gives a much deeper insight into why God is the absolute truth (n.d). This may seem like a stupid subject to discuss, but as a Christian knowing why you believe what you believe and knowing that no matter what the world says is so important, because the world out there has many voices and if you do not know the true and unchanging voice, the enemy will lead you astray! God desires for us to write effectively; writing effectively demands that we
conduct research, write detailed documentation, and write with expression
1.
Ephesians 2:10
2.
1 Corinthians 14:40
This question is an amazing one because is brings out two very different natures of Christ! Ephesians 2:10 explains that we are the workmanship of Christ! This verse brings out expression and creativity within the character of Christ. On the opposite side, 1 Corinthians 14:40 shows us that He is also a God of order! When writing and researching, often the need for structure and creativity are required, but they must be in perfect balance for the composition to be just right. Dr Jason Lisle in the article “God and Natural Law” explains that this balance of
order and creativity are in perfect harmony in nature, and when then two work together, we can experience the world around us to its fullest (2006).
God is concerned that communication be clear and easily understood
1.
Romans 12:2
2.
Philippians 4:8
In these verses Christ gives the idea that our minds are to be transformed and not conformed to the worldly ways. If we do not have a clear mind of what we are supposed to meditate and think on, our communication with the world round us can become very unclear and often focused in the wrong direction. God recognizes writing is a powerful tool to influence people.
1.
Proverbs 27:17
2.
Proverbs 9:9
3.
Proverbs 15:1
When it comes to the influence we have on others, Proverbs is the place to go to! Proverbs 9:9 shows us that when we give instruction to a wise man, he will become wiser. As Humans the words we write and the words we speak all have major influence on the people we meet, it is our job as Christians to make sure we are using them to grow other Christians to Christ and use soft words as not to be angry. Words, whether on paper or in speech, can either grow a person, or tear them down! References
