W06 Gospel Research and Insight Name: Daniel Allred Instructions Follow the steps below to complete this activity. Save this document with your name in the file name. When you have completed this activity and answered all the questions, follow the instructions in your course to submit the document for grading and feedback. Step 01 Carefully read and review Section 29-36 of Doctrine and Covenants. Step 02 Discover, reference, and use 300-400 words to explain three important truths you learn about the work of gathering in section 29 and three gathering truths from three different revelations in this lesson ( Section 30-36 ). For each truth found, including the following: State the truth in your own words as a statement of fact. Reference (Provide the reference where you found the truth you have shared). Brief Explanation (Explain why you chose this as a truth and why it is important). Those of us in the church are called to gather the elect. The elect are those who hear the Lord’s call and heed it. D&C 29 verse 7 “And ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts;” I served a mission, this mission was and still is a big part of my life. It’s been a few years and I don’t remember everyone I interacted with or know about seeds that I planted. But I do know that I have been blessed immensely for the work I performed. God is responsible for the creation of everything. The words "For by the power of my Spirit created I them; yea, all things both spiritual and temporal - First spiritual, secondly temporal, which is the beginning of my labor; and again, first temporal, and secondly spiritual, which is the last of my work -" D&C 29:31 and 32. It's crucial to keep in mind that God is the originator of all, encompassing both spiritual and material realms, which is why I've selected this verse. The spiritual realm is emphasized as preceding the material. Throughout my upbringing, my parents instilled in me the belief that prioritizing God in my life leads to success in all other endeavors. By attentively heeding His guidance, obeying His commands, and praying always, we can trust that He will fulfill our daily needs.
Christ will not forsake us, no matter whether we are virtuous or wicked. As stated in D&C 29:27, "And the righteous shall be gathered on my right hand unto eternal life; and the wicked on my left hand will I be ashamed to own before the father." I chose this verse because I generally am an optimistic person.. It's essential to understand that when Christ speaks of being ashamed to acknowledge the wicked before God, the key word is "acknowledge." Christ will never abandon us. If we keep the commandments, we will be blessed. D&C 30:8 “Be diligent in keeping my commandments, and you shall be blessed unto eternal life. Amen.” I like to keep things simple. The gospel is simple and all we need to do is to keep the commandments and we will be blessed. Those that prepare now, will be ready for when the Savior comes. D&C 33:17 “be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom.” I have always been fascinated with the second coming. Always wondering if it would happen in my lifetime. Am I prepared enough? Prayer is foundational principle that protects us from the adversary. D&C 31:12 “Pray always, lest you enter into temptation and lose your reward.” I have a strong testimony of prayer. I know that prayer can help us through even the most difficult situations. Step 03 Use 200-300 words to write a paragraph expressing the new insights you have gained on gathering from your study. Make sure to include a description of any blessings you have personally received from the gathering of the Saints. The readings and discussions this week provided me with valuable learning experiences. They underscored the spiritual nature of the Commandments, which often gets overshadowed by my focus on trivial earthly pursuits. For example, adhering to the Word of Wisdom involves abstaining from substances like coffee and tea, promoting both physical and spiritual well- being. This guidance is a precious treasure that enriches our souls. A significant portion of our discussion centered on God's will and our faith to adhere to his will. With His omniscience, He has always known past, present, and future events, including the Fall, the plan of Salvation, and the sending of a Redeemer. Armed with this understanding, learning and reading take on deeper significance. It feels as though God has sometimes anticipated my thoughts and actions throughout my life. From serving a mission, to marrying my wife, to where I would live, to my career and more. It feels as though the Lord is gently guiding me through life from one event to another.
