Christianity and Islam Commonalities:  Both religions are monotheistic  Prophets: both religions recognize the same prophets, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and even Jesus  They both believe Satan is real and evil and that he tries to make people follow him through wicked ways.  Both religions believe in heaven and hell as real places  They believe that there is a holy judgment day.  Both religions worship a holy book  Both Christians and Muslims believe Mary was virgin and Jesus was born miraculously  What is the history and origin/catalyst of each of the 2 religions you chose? Christianity originated in Judea, present-day Middle East. Christianity merged the beliefs of ancient Judaism with elements from the dominant culture of Roman Empire. Islam started in Mecca, in the modern Saudi Arabia during the time of prophet Muhammad. (History.com Editors, Islam)  How do religions evolve and spread? The spread and evolution of religions occurs through social groups, expansion, relocation, and direct contact with non-believers.

 What does practicing religion provide to its followers? The challenges facing various religions include:  the rise of secularism  the spread of religious extremism Religion is kept alive through and with the help of the eight elements, communities, through rituals passed down to the families. Even though there are many religions, and they all seem so different and hard to follow, if one does a little respectful dive into the religion’s elements, one might find more similarities than differences.
