What's in a Worldview?
I believe that with a Biblical worldview, it allows us to see the world as the way God intended. With us being sinners, we are unable to successfully view the world through the perfect 20/20 vision/ lens as God intended for us to do so. Being able to go to God’s Word and having that Biblical worldview will help each of us to look at the world through the theme of God’s redemption, and overall correcting our vision. Applying the Biblical worldview to our lives will help us when it comes to our calling in life and provides us the tools and resources on how to be a successful well-rounded Christian. Once we can distinguish the difference between the Biblical worldview and a secular worldview, we will be able to use the lenses God has given us to examine our own doings. The Bible makes it very clear that we are to create a Christian worldview. We are advised not to follow the world’s patterns and to instead be transformed by renewing our mind which is mentioned in Romans, “
Do not conform
to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing
and perfect will
.” (Holy Bible, New International Version, 1973/2011, Romans 12:2). By building a solid relationship with Jesus, it helps instill a Biblical worldview. Having the Holy Spirit offers the guidance needed to live out your calling as a Christian. “
What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.
” (Holy Bible, New International Version, 1973/2011, 1 Corinthians 2:12).
The more intimate I become with God and let go of the worldly ways, the more I can see clearer His purpose and love for me and for others. For me, being familiar with the Biblical worldview, it will protect me from turning my back on God’s design. It allows me to look through the Lenses God has for me, and I can determine if I am following my own selfish desires or if I am responding to my calling. I am able to align my desires with God’s will and purpose for me, which I can use to honor Him and to serve others. I need to remain in His word,
seek Him every day, and apply His word to my daily life. References
