3 Since the beginning of time, God has desired and demanded worship from His greatest creation-Man. The statement that Jesus made regarding the worship of God proves that God’s desire for Man has never changed. To that end, it is important for Man to fulfill the roles for which he was created and abandon the fleshly desires of his own. A Church that expects to be successful in this day and age must have a Worship Pastor to lead the congregation into the things that God is desiring of His people. A Worship Pastor is needed to bridge the gap each week between God and those who come to worship Him. Without a substantial link between the two, God is displeased, and His people are left unfulfilled The best way to usher in the presence of God is to learn how worship Him for who He is and what He has done. The presentation of these things should come from a Worship Pastor who is well versed in the Word and can motivate the people to acknowledge God for His acts. A church that desires to move forward has to have a Worship Pastor to appeal to those who pack the pews on Sundays. Singing and reciting Scriptures are a part of worship, but without the proper implementation, the services would fall flat. While the Bible encourages all flesh to give praise to God, a Worship Pastor in needed to show the people when and how those things should be done. The Worship Pastor has to be a person of sincerity and share a love for God and God’s people at the same time. A person who loves God will do all that is necessary to honor Him at all times. As a Worship Pastor, many roles have to be taken on and the work must be done with excellence and with a diligent spirit. The Worship Leader as a Worshipper The worship leader must be able to lead by example and that means being a true worshipper of God on their own. There is no way that someone can possibly lead people somewhere that they have not been before. The worship leader must be a born again believer and one that has

4 asked for forgiveness of their own sins. Without this, their experience as a worship leader will not be fruitful. True worship emanates from the heart of a person who shows the effect of God’s redemptive power on their lives. 1 The best example that the people of God can see is a leader who has been broken and restored by the power of God, evident by the life that is lived inside and outside of the Church. A worship leader who has an authentic relationship with God will always carry more weight with people than someone who does not. The love of God and a positive attitude towards God and His principles are also essential because the congregation will operate based on what they see. The spirit of God should always keep the worship leader uplifted and full of hope due to the fact that God is supreme and a rewarder of those that are diligent in their pursuit of Him. The Worship Pastor is responsible for showing the people how to approach God each week with the correct posture. Before encouraging them to worship, the leader must have a knowledge of God for themselves. 2 Understanding who God is will allow the worship leader to lean on God when things get tough and that is something that His people need to see consistently. When a Church is looking for a Worship leader, they are not always seeking someone who has vocal or musical ability. At times, they just need someone who knows how to reach God. The Worship Leader as a Disciple One of the major things that Jesus told His followers is that they had to take up their crosses and follow Him. Jesus did not encourage them to alter their lives without a reason, but they gained knowledge that was needed for them to lead others. The same goes for the Worship Leader who must give up their own ways to learn explicitly from God. Following God and accepting Jesus into their lives allows the worship leader to be more and more like Jesus Christ. 1 Kevin J.
