OT Theme Vlog Xanne Rowley Colorado Christian University Old Testament Introduction Instructor David Tomme 08/20/2023
OT Theme Vlog Learning the Old Testament has been a great journey these past few weeks. I have learned much more and understood more about the Bible in all aspects. There were two themes from the Old Testament that I really enjoyed and learned a lot about. The first theme is Covenant. Covenant appears all throughout the Old Testament and first appears with God’s covenant with Abraham. In Genesis the Lord speaks to Abraham and says “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you,” (Genesis 12:1-3). This covenant establishes that special relationship between Abraham’s descendants and God by making a promise to not only bless them but by making them a great nation. The importance of covenants is that it establishes that special relationship between God and His people. It outlines the mutual promises and responsibilities as well as demonstrating God’s faithfulness. This theme runs throughout the entire Old Testament and reveals God’s plan for redemption and restoration. In the new covenant through Jesus Christ in the New Testament it brings fulfillment to the covenant promises. The second theme that I found to be interesting is Redemption. Redemption is apparent in various narratives and passages throughout the Old Testament. An example of this is the deliverance of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Exodus 1-15 is the prime example of this. God redeems His people through Moses and displays His power and faithfulness through Moses. The importance of redemption is that it highlights God’s compassion, mercy, and His desire to rescue and restore His people. God is the ultimate redeemer. The theme od redemptions goes in and out
