WORLDVIEW PAPER 1 Biblical Worldview Paper Michelle A. Towles Liberty University Online EDUC 504
WORLDVIEW PAPER 2 Introduction Having a Biblical Worldview in today’s society is very important. The work of our savior is all around us and we should live the way he would want us to live. In this assignment I will go into more detail as to what a Biblical Worldview is, the Christian Philosophy of Education, along with the Implications for Educational Practice. Biblical Worldview The question to be answered is What exactly is a Worldview? What is a Biblical Worldview? There are many ways this term can be defined. A worldview is usually defined as how a person sees the world. Everyone has some type of worldview. A personal worldview is a combination of things. It is all you believe to be true, and what you believe becomes the drive behind every emotion, decision, and action you make. [ CITATION DEL06 \l 1033 ] A Biblical Worldview is based solely on the word of God. When you truly believe in our savior, then you allow him to be the foundation of everything you do from the way you act, to the way you treat others, or the actions you take. Someone with a biblical worldview believe their primary reason for existence is to love and serve God. [ CITATION DEL06 \l 1033 ] A couple of bible verses that stand out to me in regards to this assignment are Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” And Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” [ CITATION Kin \l 1033 ] It is important to remember that not everyone has the same worldview. We begin to develop a worldview from the first moment we interact with those around us. Christian Philosophy of Education
WORLDVIEW PAPER 3 Philosophy is the most general way of reflecting on the meaning of our lives in the world. We must reflect deeply on what is right or wrong, good or bad, and real or not real. Our text book speaks of a “Conceptual Framework”. This is a philosophy of education that gives meaning to teaching by integrating its daily demands with long-term professional commitment and direction. [ CITATION GUT09 \l 1033 ] As a Christian educator, you must look at the metaphysical aspect of a Christian Philosophy. Metaphysics is he study of what is real. A Christian must know that reality and truth only exist withing the definitions revelation and the essence of Gods creation. John 14:6 says “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” [ CITATION Bar07 \l 1033 ] God created all things, therefore, if we believe the physical properties are real, we must know that God is real to. Without him, we would have nothing. A Christian must also look at the Axiology of a Christian Philosophy. Axiology is the study of value, or what is right and wrong. Anyone calling themselves Christians must act with an ethical behavior that will point others in the right direction to a saving knowledge of Christ. [ CITATION Bar07 \l 1033 ] In order to be a great educator in any school, you must have good ethics and understand what is right and wrong. Living though God’s eyes and views, will help you become the best educator you can be because Christian ethics teaches us how to live through God’s eyes. Implications for Educational Practice A Christian Philosophy of education for a public school educator is intended to be relevant to the world of education as well as to incorporate every other aspect of life. [ CITATION Bar07 \l 1033 ] Not all school will accept the integration or implimetation of a Biblical or Christian Worldview into a classroom; however, it is important to try. Integrating a Biblical Worldview into your class lessons does not have to be all about God. This can help your students learn about each others beliefs and lives. Every person is entitled to have their own beliefs, their own view of life. That is why there are so many different religtions. I personally
