1) For my location of Sacramento, CA this is the data set of daily maximum temperatures for the last 14 days. temperature 0 79 1 79 2 79 3 82 4 81 5 86 6 88 7 91 8 86 9 73 10 70 11 75 12 75 13 66 2) Mean= 79.29 Median= 79.0 Variance= 50.22 Standard Deviation= 7.09 Based on these statistics the distribution of the daily maximum temperature in Sacramento, CA is relatively symmetrical and normally distributed since the mean (79.29) and median (79.0) are close in value. The variance (50.22) indicates that there is a moderate amount of variability in the daily maximum temperature values, suggesting that there are some fluctuations from day to day. The standard deviation (7.09) shows that the daily maximum temperature values tend to deviate from the mean by about 7.09 units on average. 3) The line graph showed the general trend of daily maximum temperatures in Sacramento, CA. 4) Measures of central tendency like the mean, median, and mode help us find the typical or most common value in a set of data. They show us where the middle of the data is. Measures of variability, including the range, variance, and standard deviation, tell us how spread out or close together the data points are. They give us a sense of how much the data varies. These measures are important because they help us understand the overall pattern of the data.
5) The side-by-side boxplot graph showed the difference in distribution between Zion and my data. The Zion data has a wider variance and distribution of temperatures than my data. The Zion data standard deviation is greater than my data. Lastly, the Zion data has a higher mean temperature.
