INTERPRETATION? As the results are less than half a percent, we can infer that the odds of cancer within the cases is less than the odds of cancer within our control group. If I were to investigate a rare cancer in Lynchburg, where might I look for data? Since Lynchburg is, I believe, home to a collaboration between University of Virginia and Lynchburg’s Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, a good place to start would be to seek data from the Regional Cancer Center. This would also lend access to U. of VA’s other cancer centers. However, that would raise questions of legality, such as gaining permission from proper
agencies. Ethics would dictate that we would not disclose identifiable information regarding any personal data gained from sources. ii However, it is more likely that a location associated with an academic setting may have access to more rare case files.
