Cristopher seno Stats 146 Doritos Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips Nov 29, 2023 Abstract: In the original version of doritos, the mean weight was 28 grams, the median was 27.5 grams, and the mode was 26.8 grams. This indicates that the majority of Doritos chips in the sample were close to the average weight of 28 grams. However, there were some outliers with weights as low as 25 grams and as high as 30 grams. Overall, the data suggests that Doritos chips have a relatively consistent weight with minimal variation. Introduction: My population of interest is Doritos Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips from RF because I am a big fan of their flavor and crunchiness. I wanted to investigate if there was any variation in the chip size among different bags. To do so, I randomly selected 20 bags from various stores and measured the weight of each bag using a digital scale. By analyzing the data, I will be able to determine if there are any significant differences in weight between the bags.
I chose grams as the quantitative variable for the weight per gram of Doritos Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips from RF. This unit of measurement was chosen since it is regularly used for food goods and will enable easy comparison with other snacks. Furthermore, utilizing grams ensures precision and removes any potential inaccuracies that could occur when translating between other units of measurement. I expect the weight of the Doritos chips to be consistent throughout numerous bags with no variance. It is vital to highlight that I trust the packing process and believe that the equipment used to fill each bag is accurate. Methods of Data Collection: To make sure this was a representative sample, I collected 20 bags from various stores using simple random sampling. This strategy enabled me to collect data from a wide range of places, ensuring that my findings were not skewed toward any single retailer or region. In addition, I recorded the expiration dates of each bag to account for any potential weight changes related to the age of the goods. I used a digital kitchen scale that could measure weights up to 5 kilograms to weigh the Doritos. This scale offered accurate and precise measurements, allowing me to confidently establish the weight of each bag of Doritos. Furthermore, I weighed each bag many times to guarantee consistency and to reduce any potential measurement errors. Result: Using the IQR I can determine the range of weights that fall within the middle 50% of the data. This means that approximately 50% of the weights fall between 1.8 grams and 2.6 grams, which is calculated by subtracting half of the IQR (0.4) from the median (2.3) to get the lower bound and adding half of the IQR to the median to get the upper bound. Weight in grams # of Doritos 1.8 1 1.9 1 1.9 1 2 1 2.1 1 2.1 3 2.2 1 2.3 1 2.4 2 2.5 3 2.6 1 2.8 4
