Decreasing discharge teaching time like the manager wants to do on the unit is unsafe and unethical to patients. The nurses on the unit are doing their part by providing excellent patient care, but reducing education can lead to dangerous outcomes for patients in the long run. Ethical Codes provides a framework and guidance for maintaining obligations to different stakeholders (Follari, 81).NAEYC and NEA both created a code of ethics. The national education association (NEA) code of ethics has two main principles: commitment to the student and commitment to the profession. NAEYC also developed a code of ethics with the intent to “give practitioners a research-based framework for making sound decisions in their work, especially when faced with ethical dilemmas” (Follari , 72). NAEYC code set a framework of professional responsibilities in four sections that address professional relationships that include: children, families, colleagues, and community and society; and in which each section is divided into ideal and principles. After reading the discussion board forum I researched North Carolina’s Board of Licensed Professional Counselors website. I then searched for some North Carolina’s counseling websites to find local informed consents. The counselor that I found the most interesting is Robin G. Forgione, M.Ed., LPCS, NCC. I noticed she met most of the ACA code of ethics requirements and North Carolina’s entire requirements.
Great post! I like how you applied participants from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. In section A of the ACA code of ethics (2014), it focuses on the counseling relationship, that they encourage to actively attempt to understand the diverse culture backgrounds of the clients they serve.
Nurses are faced with making difficult decisions for theirs patients on a daily occurrence. “The STOP model helps decision makers by reminding them to consider all elements and make a best rational choice to fit the situation.” (Godfrey & Crigger, 2012, p. 35) When faced with a daunting choice a nurse can use the STOP Model to help them decipher what exactly to do without becoming overwhelmed. I enjoyed reading your post. The ASCA and AMHCA has some similarities. In the AMHCA Code of Ethics (2015), that counselors should look at his or her own beliefs and values and understand that their views can impact the client. AMHCA also has their own peer review journal that provides information about research, and theories that relates to mental health counseling. After reading the ANA code of ethics there are various aspects that can relate back to nursing informatics. However, the main sections I would like to discuss would be; provisions two, three, seven, eight and nine.
