Acute crisis cases management :- The acute crisis of metabolic decompensation in MSUD is a deadly dangerous medical case that demands immediate action to lower concentrations of leucine and other BCAA in plasma. This aim can be reached by using Intravenous mixtures of amino acids , which deals with the process of protein synthesis , however these mixtures are not generally available and requires medical care and continuous administration , that what lead to developing enteral mixtures suitable for administration by nasogastric drip in minimal volume along with provision of water and calories intravenously , to reduce concentration of Lucien and other BCAA in patients with acute crisis of metabolic decompensation in MSUD. This way proved
This chapter provides an overview that describes the basic types of hazards threatening the United States and provides definitions for some basic terms such as hazards, emergencies, and disasters. The chapter also provides a brief history of emergency management in the federal government and a general description of the current emergency management system—including the basic functions performed by local emergency managers. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the all-hazards approach and its implications for local emergency management.
In order to explore how a crisis worker would approach, assess, and treat a crisis situation, this paper will focus on the story of Melody, the victim of a brutal rape. Melody Swanson is a 50 year old, divorced teacher who has been living alone since her children went to college two months ago. Melody came home from a short vacation to the casino and was met in her driveway by an armed man in his twenties. She was abducted at gunpoint, beaten, raped, robbed, and left abandoned several miles from her home. Melody was able to find help and was
Ms. Okoro has displayed her ability to identify, analyze issues and proactively solve problems by active involvement by either effectively contributing as a member or a leader in many initiatives with a departmental and/ or hospital-wide impact. This has been evidenced by the following:
This summer I had the opportunity to enroll in a practicum with the Calgary Police Service. One call in particular involved a domestic dispute over child custody, and the officer and I were the first to arrive on the scene. We approached the residence and herd shouting from the front door. At this point it is apparent the conflict between the parties has been ongoing for some time. The officer and I called for an additional patrol vehicle, and once they arrived we entered the residence. Upon entering the residence there was a male and two females, the one female and male are a couple, who will use the name Bob and Jane, and the other female was the mother of the child who will use the name
against the government included starting a petition, planning a strike, issuing newspapers about what they were doing, addressing the citizens about how fascist the government is during town hall, planning a court case and planning a revolution. Every time we were in the process of an action, our party was always countered by the government when they used their emergency law. This emergency law gives the government the power to create ANY law since they did not specifically outline what an emergency situation was. From the moment it was not clearly defined and created, this law presented itself to be a fascist move. For example, my party started a petition so when the government found out with their “emergency” law they created a law stating
The United States was very successful by the end of the Crisis Simulation. We had set unrealistic goals and found ways to achieve them all. My group and I used the leverage as being the strongest country in the world. We ended the simulation with all goals achieved, better relations with most countries and kept our country perfectly secured (besides Disney World) through following a strategy of Selective Engagement.
This is a not an uncommon scenario on an acute crisis stabilization unit. One should have a high index of suspicion for trauma. Some clues that one may be dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder are 1) re-experiencing, which can manifest itself as nightmares, flashbacks, or reactivity; 2) avoidance, which can present itself as denial, refusal to answer questions, social withdrawal, and even substance abuse; and 3) hyperarousal, which can take the form of irritability, insomnia, and verbal aggression.
When pondering the instances that have the potential to result in a hospital stay, a sizable list becomes apparent in a matter of seconds: heart attack, stroke, cancer, emergency surgery, infection, a bad car accident, or even the birth of a child. Additionally, other instances can result in a hospital visit, such as a sport injury, shortness of breath, a broken bone, a deep cut, or intense pain. Likewise, doctor visits occur for countless reasons, including the need for shots or blood work, physical examinations, the flu, a bad cough, basic medical testing, and well-being check-ups. Ultimately, it is explicit that an innumerable amount of circumstances may result in a person seeking medical care. The salient implication of this is a
Nutritional therapy has an effective role in maintaining plasma BCAA (leucine, Isoleucine and Valine) concentrations as close to normal. The goal of nutritional therapy is to reduce toxic metabolites, prevent accumulation of endogenous BCAA and BCKA, Reduce catabolism and Stimulate protein anabolism. This is achieved by restricting dietary BCAA and high caloric enteral or parenteral mixtures including adequate BCAA-free exogenous protein, lipid, CHO, energy, fluid, Valine and Isoleucine (1, 2). Non acutely ill individuals can be managed with a *sick day* guideline that provides detailed instructions for preventing catabolism and monitoring clinical state (3, 4, 5). This reduces intact protein by 50 % - 100 % in 24-48 hours by replacement with
The second step, was to contact a professional at the Crisis Center and inform them about the purpose of our campaign and try to achieve a partnership with this organization. I achieved this task because the Crisis Center agreed to the partnership and their valuable advaocacy resources were published on my groups Facebook page, campaign posters, and bus advertisement. The third step was to contact the Green Bay metro system to implement a bus campaign regarding this issue. Galina did a great job doing this because she worked with the bus company in the past and possessed a valuable knowledge about how to advertise this campaign. I also partnered with Galina to implement the advertisement sign design at Fast Signs. Brianna, Lizze, and Ashely
When dispatch issues a crisis call, stating that a person is emotional disturbed and is about to take measures of life into their own hands, regardless, if it is a suicide or domestic violence call, it is necessary for officers to be trained to perform their duties correctly; in order to help resolve the crisis situation. Upon the officer’s arrival at the scene, they must first assess the situation with extreme caution, as well as call for back up. They should park away from the location and approach the scene slowly on foot. Next, it is important that an officers address the party/parties with a calm and soothing voice. By doing so will help alleviate the person/persons from feeling threatened and intimidated. If the call is a domestic violation situation, it is imperative that both parties are separated, allowing them the opportunity to share their story with the officers. In either situation, the officers must not argue or scold the party or allow anyone else to do so. If the call is a suicide, and the relatives or friends are at the scene, have them help communicate and address the subject, unless of course there is animosity; under those circumstances, the individual may have
Because significant proximal tubular reabsorption of filtered BCAAs, renal clearance of filtered BCAAs very is limited and treatment of symptomatic patients with MSUD aimed on reducing plasma BCAA levels either by incorporation into new protein synthesis or by enhancing removal from the intravascular space. Several treatment modalities including special nutritional regimens, exchange transfusions, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous hemofiltration have been utilized in neonates with MSUD. All this modalities has varying success in reducing systemic BCAA levels(6). MSUD is very rare in most populations worldwide, published reports of diagnosis and treatment of MSUD usually involve only a few patients and most have focused on management of the acute illness. As a result, reaching an agreement about various management issues has been difficult. In our case we found continuous veno- venous hemodialysis with filtration (CVVHDF) as an effective treatment modalities which has been described in earlier(7)(8)(9), as leucine level reduced to 20 % after 6 hours of treatment.
An effective crisis management response plan outlines specific procedures for administrator, teachers, and students during evacuation emergencies. Administrators work with teachers, students, parents, law enforcement officers, business and community members, to develop an effective emergency and crises plan. The administrator provides leadership in developing and monitoring the school safety plan and also establishes procedures for emergency evacuation and crisis management at different stages of the plan. However, an effective leader develops a comprehensive prevention education plan, and regularly reviews the code of conduct manual for revisions and current laws.
Crisis communication is one of the most important and neglected components of organizational communication in today's business world. It is vital that every corporation have contingency plans for emergency situations, both natural and man-made. Studies show that eighty percent of organizations confronted with a major disaster runs out of business within two years.(Hickman & Crandall 1997) Nevertheless, we also know that almost forty percent of all Fortune 1000 companies have an operational crisis management plan in place. (Hickman & Crandall 1997) This paper will examine and evaluate three journals that discuss different aspects and needs for an active crisis plan.
Here is the final version of the crisis management strategy report which was commissioned by yourself on Monday 5 May 2014.
