In the past few years mobile devices have evolved from a luxury item to a necessity item. Since the demand for these devices has increased, more competitors came to the market and the prices were reduced accordingly. As a result new mobile phones are being introduced by the competitors with the latest technologies. Today most of the mobile devices consist with multi-functional capabilities and most of the professions are used mobile devices to manage their work easily.

The advantage of e-learning method can be fully achieved with the postgraduate or undergraduate students who are engaged in learning while working and also geographically dispersed due to the family and work life thus physically appearing for the lectures sessions are difficult to them.
To use e – learning system students should have a laptop or personal computer with internet facility. But each and every student in Sri Lanka doesn’t have internet with personal computer. As a result of this e- learning was not successful in Sri Lanka as expected.
To overcome the above mention problems Sri Lankan educators thought to introduce m-learning technology to Sri Lanka but still this technology is not used in Sri Lanka. The main reason for it is, still educators are not aware of students’ and lecturers’ perception about this and they don’t know what factors that effect to make m-learning successful in Sri Lanka.
Based on the literature survey next chapter describes the factors that affected to make m-learning successful in various countries and how those factors influence in Sri Lankan education system when educators are going to introduce m-learning to the Sri Lankan education
