Chapter 1

A meaning of computer

A Computer is an electronic device, operating under the control of instructions stored in its own memory

There are three process of computer

1. Collects data (input)

2. Processing

3. Produces information (output)

The Components of a Computer

A computer contains many electric, electronic, and mechanical components known as hardware. There are five type of the components of computer.

1.Input Devices is any hardware component that allows you to enter data and instructions into a computer such as keyboard, a mouse, a microphone

1. A personal computer (PC) is general purpose computer whose size, capabilities, make it useful for individuals. Two popular architectures are the PC and the Apple.

2. Mobile Computers and Mobile Devices

- Mobile Computer is a computer that can carry from place to place during usage. Examples include notebook computers, laptop computers, netbooks, and Tablet PCs.

- Mobile Device is a small, hand-held computing device. Examples include smart phones, PDAs, handheld computers.

3. A game console is an interactive entertainment computer or customized computer system.

4. A server is a computer that controls access to hardware and software on a network and provides a centralized storage area for programs.

5. A mainframe is large and powerful data processing systems.

6. Supercomputer is the fastest, most powerful computer.

7. An embedded computer ’s main purpose is control something. Telephones , televisions, cameras ,washing machines, microwave cookers dishwashers, and cars.
