In this week's article, the author, Ali Hale wrote about the five steps of the writing process. These steps includes prewriting, writing, revising, editing and publishing. Prewriting is the first step of the writing process, this step allows the writer to form ideas and write them down. Once they get an idea of what to write, they can either brainstorm or free write. Brainstorm means writing down any ideas that comes to mind on a piece of paper with the main idea in the center. These ideas can be subtopics or directions to the article. On the other hand, free write is when the writer starts writing their ideas down about the topic and not worry about grammar, spelling and punctuations. After the writer is done they can decide on what is
I frequently find myself reminiscing about the past semester and what I have learned in just a few weeks. English 111 has introduced me to new strategies to further improve my papers such as strategies to produce ideas, planning, and methods to organize my work. One strategy I learned in English 111 was the writing process. The writing process includes four detailed steps that I used to help me write papers. The first step of the writing process would be to be prewriting, also known as the invention stage. The prewriting stage is where you produce an outline or when you write down idea that you want to talk about in your paper. I often start by making an outline, labeling my paragraphs. The next step of my prewriting process would be to write down important ideas onto note cards, especially if I am writing a research paper. After writing an outline or putting your ideas on paper the writing process suggest that you get started. The next operation of the writing process would be revision. The ins were many authors use the A.R.R.R strategy, this stands for add, rearrange, remove, and replace. This would be where you add in crucial details, rearrange the order to ensure the flow of
Prewriting- Explain to the students that the first step in the process approach to writing is prewriting which includes choosing a topic, planning and rehearsing.
The process in which people think is different for everyone. Everyone has a different way of how they can focus or be creative. For writing, there are many different steps that each writer goes through in order to create good content. In the short story, “So, You Want to Be a Writer? Here’s How.” written by Allegra Goodman, she explains how to become a good writer. Also, in the short story she describes her writing process. Goodman’s writing process is similar to a lot of people's writing process. In a writing process, writers go to a certain location, brainstorms, and completes to write a satisfactory paper.
Writing a paper on the writing process is pretty hard. The writing process is different from one person to another. You come across questions like, 'What exactly is the writing process?'; and 'Must you follow one persons writing process if yours is different?'; This is where I came across the answer to my questions, write however you wish to write. If one person likes free write first and another person likes to write a draft first, let them do how they please.
The writing of my college essay was quite a process. Normally for me writing comes rather easy, I do not struggle putting my ideas on paper. At first I thought that this essay would be simple to do and not be very stressful. It turned out to be quite the opposite in fact, just brainstorming was a struggle for me. It was difficult for me to think about my life and how it is special. To me, the events that have shaped me do not seem that relevant, at 18 I had never really payed much attention to how certain things affected me, I just lived my life. eventually , with the help of Mary, I came to the realization that having my summer taken away from me due to a broken foot had really changed my life philosophy, it truly changed who I was and my outlook on life.
The first step is something I like to call, The Royal Rumble of Ideas. The path in which my paper will follow as well as my thoughts and ideas are formed from the first process. The way in which it does this, is by requiring the writer to apply an abundant amount of focus on one particular area; whereas, the typical strategy, asks for the writer to just write (cue eye roll). If I am to construct a story, I must utilize this step. En passant, I might add, the crux of the former element is very much similar to the latter, as well as in the way in which it works. The commonality to which I am referring, is rumination. The simplicity of it is bemusing, especially considering it’s efficiency, but I will describe that later. The way this is utilized, is by requiring the writer to mull over what they will write next. For example: When I am writing, regardless of the type of paper, I will deeply contemplate what my next sentence will be and how it will be phrased. Incidentally, in English class, I will often be seen staring into the ether, as if I am on a psychotropic drug. There is, however, a reason behind this seemingly sinister image. As I described, rumination is crucial in my writing process: In order to produce a sentence, or a paragraph for that matter, I must distill information from that contemplation. (See, it even
I have been writing papers for a long time, but I am by no means the best writer I can be. To unleash my full potential as a writer, I have to review all my old writings. I have to analyze my past writing style so that I can see if there is anything I can do differently. Overall, the creation process of my papers can be better. Maybe taking a look at who I am as a writer will help me improve.
Many creative minds around the world have their own special ways to prepare themselves for writing. Through writing they can create award winning novels, books, and stories. Out of all these creative minds, none of them have any similarities on how they prepare themselves for writing. Most people assume that writers just sit down in a chair and crack their knuckles then start brainstorming for their writing . Everyone has their own different ways they prepare themselves physically and mentally. Personally before I start writing I have to make myself physically comfortable. For this to happen I have to place myself in a cold and quite environment. Then set a comfortable chair, a clean desk, a laptop, and a drink along with some snacks. After being physically comfortable, I have to then make myself mentally prepared to write by putting ideas down
Being a perpetually anxious person, I tend to be particular in my daily life. I need to clean my room and make my bed before I leave. I must sleep at 9:00pm every night. I have to wake up at 6:00am every morning. I need to do a certain thing at a specific time, or it throws me off. Writing allows me to be messy. It allows me to vomit words and struggle to write a coherent sentence before finally, my thoughts are realized onto the paper. My process is wonderfully disorganized. It is starting to write, eventually erasing everything I've written, starting all over again, realizing that I was straying from my point, and retyping it a second time. My process is becoming frustrated at the pretentious introduction. It's wanting to smash my computer
In my current profession as a registered Family Day Care Educator I was initially unsure in having my writing assessed by an online tool; however, I became somewhat relieved when my first attempt was labelled “lean”. Writer’s Diet (http://www.writersdiet.com/WT.php) diagnostic tool however did not give me a clear reflection on my writing as it placed an ‘incorrect line,’ through all dates, page numbers within my in text referencing. Researching the errors through the textbook and websites such as Paper Rater (http://www.paperrater.com/) I was able to closely inspect my writing and make recommended changes. Later attempts to achieve improvement in grammar, sentence beginnings and usage of the passive voice when writing, it was adamant my writing was more academic and clearer than my first attempt.
Pre-write is one of the most important parts of writing a paper but there are many different ways to go about writing pre-write paper . Someone people like to just write everything that comes to their mind down without any sort of order, which is called free write. Free
Each small scenarios that happen in our live can have either a major or minor impact on them. For me, it had a major impact. The way I go about writing now is more clear. I put more thought into my thinking process first. Before I decide what I want to write about I make a list. The top part of my list are the things that are either important to me or just easy to talk about, as long as it stands true to the topic or prompt. This is important because beforehand I just picked something and wrote the bare minimum I needed to have to get an A or B in high school ,which is not very hard with certain teachers. From changing this one step my whole writing process became easier. This scenario, did start off very damaging. My attitude towards
One’s writing says a lot about that individual and their views on certain topics. At times, it is difficult to share one’s work of literature due to sensitivity to other’s reactions and comments. Ever since I began writing high ended essays, peer editing was my biggest fear. Personally, I had a difficult time sharing my writings. There were certain areas I lacked in and the peer editing only confirmed insecurities I had. All of this changed through writer’s circles.
