Title: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Author: John Boyne Publication Date: January 5, 2006 I chose this book because (respond in at least 2 sentences): I have watched the movie many times and I always wanted to know which was better and what the difference between the book and the film. Connecting with Character: Protagonist Bruno How do you relate to this character? Similarities Differences Beginning: Bruno wanted to meet Shmuel and become friends with him at first sight; He wanted to play with him also. But they were separated by a fence. I can relate to that because I like meeting new friends and when I meet them I normally ask to go play and have a conversation with them. End: When Bruno went to go help Shmuel go find his father and when the soldiers blew their whistle for them to march I would have done the same thing which was leave and go back to my family because they are more important. But I would have told him the same thing and tell him he was my best friend. Beginning: when I meet new friends we both have the freedom to play with each other with nothing dividing us or separating us. End: They are still best friends at the end of the movie and they have this amazing bond where they look just alike and have the same haircut but one is just flatter. Also they have this connection where they are best friends for life. Friends come and go and in my point of view I have lost many friends and friendships don’t last long at all.
