Everyone is watching the general election. From the majority of all Americans to America’s allies are paying close attention to the 2016 Election. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are practically the center of the universe, for they will both have major changes upon being elected president of the United States. Both candidates should be wary of what they say in public, because they are considered role models to young children. Trump has been known to speak his mind without a filter, and not be politically correct. Clinton’s campaign aims to use Trump’s unfiltered opinion to sway the audience to vote for her. The advertisement video wants the audience to know that he is unfit, because his untamable temperament and unpredictability can terminate alliance and any progression made from the democrats. In the advertisement video, the producer uses strong offensive diction from Trump’s blurs and cinematic tactics to demonstrate that Trump is unfit to leader of the free world. To begin, the short clip shows an average American house with Trump talking in the background noise. Before the video continuous, cinematic filter is quite noticeable. The filter makes the entire video look dark with high contrast and cold saturation while Trump speaks. Although his insults are other issues, let’s first focus on cinematic tactics used to emphasize his unprofessional remarks, and unjust behavior to everyone he sees as the weak chains of the county. For instance, the filter itself serves as a
Many will argue that the perfect president for America is Donald Trump. What most people are not aware of is that Donald Trump is a very blunt and explicit man. In numerous cases, that is a very dangerous and risky thing for him to do. In this year’s presidential election, Donald Trump is running up against Hillary Clinton and his idea of a perfect country is publicized in a video ad. In today's generation, videos have a strong influence on the decisions that are made. The Political Communication Lab ad titled “Watching,” effectively emphasizes Donald Trump’s opinions on America by creating a video of him commenting on different topics in the country supplemented by a variety of people affected by what he says while the video expresses the
I have selected one of Donald Trumps re-election campaign ads called, ?Let President Trump Do His Job?, which was launched in August 2017 by the Republican National Committee and is centered around the accomplishments Donald Trump has made in the first seven months despite hindrance from his opponents. The 30 second ad begins by showing clips of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Elizabeth Warren, Maxine Waters and press brief cameras, with the narrator and captions saying, ?Career politicians and the media, trying to stop him?, followed by a clip of Donald Trump speaking at a rally with the message ?BUT PRESIDENT TRUMP IS FIGHTING FOR AMERICA?, the ad then shows a series of facts highlighting all of his accomplishments, ?1 Million new jobs, Companies Investing Billions, Stock Market All Time Record Highs, Our Border More Secure, Our Economy Winning Again, Americans Working Again, Our Country Strong Again?
On the evening of September 11, 2001, George W. Bush managed to change the country forever with a simple three letter word. President Bush gained numerous advantages following his renown speech. Many Americans lost their lives on 911 due to terrorism being used as a form of communication. Language is the cornerstone of all known societies and is essential for a country to thrive. Without language there is no understanding. Without understanding conflicts are inevitable.
The “disturbances of collective order” (Durkheim 1915, 246) or norms with spikes in unemployment and increased competition in labor market could have resulted in what Durkheim referred to as anomic suicide. People’s lives have been greatly impacted and they are uncertain of the future in America. Trump argues that immigrants pose a competition in labor market and he promised to bring jobs back for American workers or the White working class. It’s harder for them to live with the decline of jobs because in the old economic order, White workers have greater opportunities for growth. When their expectation of themselves in the society is threatened, Trump’s promise
In this essay, I will compare and contrast the recent top two candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton as it relates to the presidential election, along with my opinion and views regarding what recently took place as of November 8th, 2016. It’s no secret that this election has been the craziest thus far. Not only for the first time has a female candidate made it this far in an election, but we also got to witness the shenanigans that took place leading up to the election, majority of which came from our very own, Donald Trump.
Friedman directly addresses Trump on his response that his comments were “just words”, employing the use of loaded language such as “bragging” to describe his demeanor during the video. Moreover, a sarcastic tone is used in likening Trump’s repeated use of the phrase “locker room talk” to having “magic powers”. In using such language the author undermines his response, alluding to the audience that his response was a blatant attempt to persuade the public of how he is right, rather than addressing their criticisms. Informally addressing him as “Donald”, Friedman purposefully attacks Trump, knowing that he hates “being addressed by his first name”. The
In the most recent presidential campaign between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, many new election tactics were presented – especially the use of social media, reality entertainment personalities and trying to gain millennial support by relating to them in various ways. As the use of this new tactic went up, the extremities in other aspects of the campaign only increased as well. There became an almost lack of seriousness and rise in hate and bullying, especially in advertising pro their campaign and against their candidates.
In this election year Donald Trump has emerged as the Republican nominee for president, and his policies bear an unlikely resemblance to an earlier Republican nominee, Richard Nixon. Trump and Nixon may seem unlikely on the surface; their foreign and domestic policies, however, share great similarities. Donald Trump and Richard Nixon, despite their differing personalities, share resemblances in both their standing as the “law and order” candidate and their “secret plan” to defeat the insurrection forces of the world.
A presidential candidate is chosen by assessing their chances, entering the race, competing in primaries and caucuses, being voted for by delegates in the national nominating convention, and then moving on to the general election. (Hershey, 2015, p. 197) Serious presidential candidates begin to take polls, raise money, identify active supporters in the states with early contests, and compete for the services of respected consultants several years before the election takes place. This process of early fund-raising and competing for media attention and public support has become so important that it’s called the invisible primary or the “money primary”. (Hershey, 2015, p. 196) Candidates who fall behind or lag in funding and endorsements are likely to be weeded-out of the race before most Americans have the chance to form an opinion about them.
One might observe that American society values emotionalism over logical appeal, an observation that both of the presidential candidates have taken advantage of. In order to craft an effective speech, one should balance logical and emotional appeal, each supporting the other. Although Donald Trump’s speech was unbalanced in this area, it has proven to be quite effective. Mr. Trump is attempting to appeal to the audience’s desire for justice, vengeance, and protection, which they believe he will provide should he be elected into office. It is imperative that citizens of the United States take the time to critically analyze and ponder the words the presidential candidates are using. Words are a very powerful weapon; words can be used to both articulate and manipulate thought. In the political sphere specifically, words are often used with the intent of constructing one’s own reputation while also tearing down the opponent. The truth can easily be lost as politicians wage a war of words, which is why one must use discernment when choosing who they want to support. Mr. Trump is very skilled when it comes to capturing the attention of an audience, as the polls might indicate. It seems the amount of time and effort Donald Trump has invested into his reputation has paid
On September 26, 2016, the first of four debates was hosted by Hofstra University in New York. The debate was between Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump. This was a much anticipated debate because it was not only the first of four, but it was the first time for divided America to pick a side and candidate that they could identify with after the primaries were over and we were left with these two options. These two candidates were asked questions by moderator Lester Holt, anchor of NBC Nightly News.
Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton have marketed themselves with speeches, appearances on television and advertisements. Donald Trump represents the Republican party. Hilary Clinton represents the Democratic party. Donald Trump stands for making America great again. He is ambitious enough to come so far long in the presidential race and he is confrontational. Trumps brutally honest opinions and vulgar language has differentiated him from the competition. He is very bold with his obviously high self-confidence. I believe Trumps marketing team has done a good job although he is always portrayed as the bad guy. Even though he is portrayed as the bad guy, his slogan "make America great again", is catchy and has helped him progress and connect with
The United States economy has always had its ups and downs like the rest of the world’s economies. Since December 2007 it has been in a recession, and it has not been able to come out of it yet; with the passage of time, we sink even more. Our current president Barack Obama has certain strategies to take us out of this, even though according to economists that recession ended since June 2009, the economy is growing too slow and the number of unemployed people is outrageous. For the 2012 elections many Republican candidates are trying to formulate new plans that differ from those that Obama has worked out, all these are strategies to get elected as presidents or in Obama’s case, reelected.
“Republican and Democratic presidential front-runners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have another chance to edge closer to their respective parties' nominations Tuesday as voters go to the polls in the delegate-rich New York primary”.”Pre-primary polls show Trump and Clinton holding comfortable leads, but winning alone is not necessarily enough. Clinton will want a convincing victory to halt rival Bernie Sanders' winning streak and blunt his claims of "momentum" in the Democratic race.”Trump needs to garner more than 50 percent of the statewide vote to have a shot at taking home all 95 of New York’s delegates. Trump has been campaigning heavily in the state with an eye toward that goal, and most recent polls shows him, holding a huge double-digit
Donald J. Trump is a perfect example of the American example of overcoming adversity, having set new standards of perfection in business. He is however an autocratic leader who concentrates decision-making, and exerts absolute power. He includes himself with the minutest of points of interest of his business, and restrictions contributions from a handpicked few in his team. (Brighthubpmcom, 2017)
