Slide 1
Good evening everyone. This Kickoff PowerPoint presentation is a recap of all the hard work that was put in by the Amiodarone Protocol project team.
Slide 2-4
The project manager is Debbie Excellent, mentor and sponsor is Dr. Toni Hebda, and the other team members are Rose Valderrosa, Paul Brattan, George Kovach, and Aviole Jean-Pierre. Thanks to the team for an amazing great start. Job well done.

Communication was establish with Dr. Hebda on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 4:00 pm to discuss the project. On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, the group met in Second Life (SL), an online virtual world, for our first “Meet and Greet”. The purpose of that “Meet and Greet” gathering was for networking, sharing of knowledge, and

The mission statement of St. Louis Medical Center (SLMC) is in alignment with the Amiodarone Protocol, since the goal is to reduce morbidity and mortality rate and enhance quality of life.
Slide 7
The expectation is to develop the following documents: project plan; change management; risk management; communication plan; report requirements; and closing plan. All of these documents will be essential for the success of the Amiodarone Protocol.
Slide 8
The Amiodarone Protocol is proposed due to the influx of patients who developed AFib following open heart surgery in the recent year. Mostafa et al. (2012) stated that this is a major problem in the United States and could lead to longer hospital stay; increase risk of hospital mortality; possibility of complication after discharge, namely stroke, renal failure and death; and resource spending of nearly $2 billion per year. Furthermore, by identifying patients most at risk for developing post CABG AFib, measurements to prevent its occurrence might be beneficial to them.
Slide 12-13
The roles of the project team is recap to ensure everyone knows what position they will partake of in the project.
Slide 14
The project management tools that were used in this project include: Microsoft Project, for creating the Gantt chart and the work breakdown structure (WBS); Microsoft Access, for creating the database that will trigger the alert indicating that the patient meets the criteria and the Amiodarone
As each new project is started, a new team leader may be assigned. The reason for this is with each new project the area of expertise needed may change. These teamwork groups are helpful to the manager. By delegating the responsibility of a project to the designated group, it lessen
The identification and understanding of an individual’s role and that of the other team member’s roles is crucial as is the recognition of how the different roles complement each other and work together.
Key outputs in this phase are the Projects Requirements definition, the capability and capacity assessment, project delivery strategy and the Project Management plan. The role of the construction/ project manager in this phase is, once project authorized, it is the project manager’s responsibility to implement the project. In terms of the Project Requirements Definition the, the project manager refines and details the project authorization and details what the project is required to accomplish in terms of the products/services the project will deliver and the scope of work that needs to be done. The project manager must provide project team members, corporate sponsors, and other stakeholders with a common understanding of what the project is all about, and is the authoritative reference document that defines the project.
The project team is also a driving force, making sure that create a plan that works.
Perform high level project management 2. Ultimate authority and responsibility for the project 3. Provide funds for the project and manage the overall budget 4. Approve and continuously monitor the project 5. Schedule work with other project teams and initiate 6. Develop and maintain project charter
| Manage the project and contribute to the project requirements. Authorize any changes to the project. Oversee all project work as it relates to the project plan, budget, and schedule. Manage communications between all parties involved.
Roles and responsibilities – It is possible that during the project development some staff may have difficulty in defining their roles within the team or were not part of the role development process that takes place during the forming stage of Tuckman’s team development model. It is also likely within the project team to have duplication of roles/function, even though Belbin’s Team roles model may have been used. However it is not a pre-requisite that all team must have the nine roles specific by Belbin. ‘Team members can take on more than one role and some roles are not necessary in certain teams’. (Horn 2009:13)
Specific assignments should be determined for all project members in the beginning, and remain constant throughout the project.
All members of a project team report directly to the project manager. This clarified and simplified reporting structure reduces the potential for conflicting demands on team members’ time and results in fewer and shorter lines of communication. In addition, it facilitates faster project decision making.
There will be a number of documents that will need to be developed these will include;
On a yearly basis in the United States, Mostafa, EL-Haddad, Shenoy, and Tuliani (2012) stated that approximately 640,000 patients end up having coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) and between 5% and 40% of these patients end up developing atrial fibrillation (AFib). This can be prevented if precautionary measurements are taken. As an intensive care unit (ICU) nurse, I have witnessed an influx of patients who developed AFib following open heart surgery in the recent year and wanted to research the problem. Thus, my database project for early detection and implementing preventive measures to decrease the prevalence of AFib following open heart surgery. With the help of my clinical educator, I was able to conduct chart reviews. The results showed
Project Human Resource Management – identification of project team and assigning roles and responsibilities to each task.
During the project planning phase, I can work effectively towards the development of project management subsidiary plans to execute, monitor and control and close projects. I will contribute towards the planning of the scope in assuring that the project includes all the work required and only the work required. I will do this by conducing interviews, focus group, facilitated workshops etc., I can clearly define and document stakeholder needs to meet project objectives that will be
• who will be responsible for planning and management of project operations as well as the roles of other bodies and organizations associated with the project
Every member can be given a chance to carry out a number of different tasks in the team.
