Music to the Ears After a stressful week of school and work, it is finally the weekend. People often do many activities to have fun or feel productive during the weekend. Similar to myself, I watched an anime over the weekend. Animes are animated TV shows produced by Japanese companies. Watching animes on my weekends relieves the stress from school, but also can change the point of my views seen in society. A prime example of an anime I watched this weekend was Your Lie In April. Its Japanese name is Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso. Your Lie In April is a story about a young boy name Kousei Arima, who is a prodigy pianist and what lies ahead is his path to his future. In this journey, Arima faces the death of his mother, which shakes Arima’s world, …show more content…
Even though it is in Japanese, you can feel this sensational feeling. “Never in my life did I thought of ‘oh hey let's listen to some classical music’ but this anime opened a new taste in music in me and I'm grateful for that” (myanimelist). Listening to the music in this anime has also changed my taste of music. The opening of the anime gives a really good invite to why you should watch this anime. To get viewers to watch an anime, the anime usually plays a good song with pictures of what you will see in the anime. The soundtracks set the mood of what the viewer will see within the anime. While watching the openings with the soundtracks in it, you can see all the characters and what you will also see within the anime. The ending of the anime shows the closing of the anime and has a soundtrack. Both the openings and endings can be considered as music videos. The genre of both the opening and endings is Japanese pop. The openings and endings reflect the anime. Within the anime, the instruments that are mostly played are the piano and violin. Kousei Arima plays the piano while Kaori plays the violin. Also, in this anime, the producers include classical music like Frédéric Chopin and Beethoven. I recommend watching this anime due to the soundtracks you will enjoy listening to. Looking at the amazing plotline and soundtrack comes the captivating animations of the …show more content…
The people say that the anime’s pacing is too slow and should be faster. Because the anime is 22 episodes, the anime has to be slower. I agree to this, the anime is way too slow. However, the music that is being played by Arima and Kaori makes up for the pacing. Their music of them playing the piano and violin brings harmony and beauty to this anime. Listening to the soundtrack of this anime brings good things to the ears. Also, a counter to the slow pacing is the animations of the anime. Combining animations with the soundtracks brings beauty to the eye. They entwine together to make the best out of the

Nowadays classical music, including music from the canon, is used in a huge number of ways by people in modern culture; music is emotional underscoring, it is a field of force/perfume like an atmosphere, it is medicine, to alter your mood like a drug, it is also a key to mysteries of nature. (Robert Fink) Mostly William Tell Overture and ‘Largo al Factotum’ from Barber have primarily been used for chase/excitement sequences (Tell) or comedy (Barber). For example “The Rabbit of Seville” performed by Bugs Bunny in 1950 in the famous cartoon Looney Tunes. Other examples would be the opening sequence of Mrs. Doubtfire in 1993 and The Lone Ranger in 1948. Beethoven is ‘popular’ in pop culture and in the concert hall, for example, Fur Elise is a ‘popular’ piece. It is the soundtrack of modern life, providing a surfeit of musical wallpaper that delivers easy listening to nurseries, upscale supermarkets, doctors’ offices, cafes, and retirement homes. (Yang,
Each element on its own, has an important role it plays in the creation of a film or movie. In Misery, for example, the choice of music composition used for major scenes in the movie helps to build on the plot, suspense and rising action, on many other scenes, the fast paced music led to nail biting and hair pulling moments. Without the wise choice of the fast-paced string, Classical music, Misery would have not been the psychological thriller it
From the beginning of the film, the score was a peaceful piano piece that went along with the scenery. It was gentle and non-threatening. There is a flute, or other woodwind, that joins the piano, and this is when a car is seen driving by. Later strings join the ensemble and the music all continues to be soft. This reassured me that the movie would not be dark or overwhelming. The theme music and film’s focus on

Before being able to completely appreciate musical films, one must be aware of their remarkable history and how they came into existence. According to an article written by Cara Schreffler:
The music played in the background of the film is generally very peaceful. The sounds are diegetic,
The importance of music in movies is highly regarded for manipulating the viewer’s emotions and helping them immerse into the story. Music is one of the prime elements in cinema. Without it a movie would feel dull and unexciting. There are three elements in a movie: one is acting, the second is picture, and the third one is music. It is a holy trinity; if incomplete, there would be a lack of sensation and excitement. Both acting and picture can stand independently from one another, but music is the one that makes the movie memorable.
Music originates from all over the world since the beginning of time. Complex or simple, fast or slow, loud or soft. It’s what you feel. It could be your method of escape or keeping you living. Music is love. Music is passion. Music is unity. Music is emotion. Music is belief. Music is beauty. Music is life. Music is perfection. Music is imperfection. Music is peace. “Through music we can live forever.”
Music has always been a very influential basis to my everyday life. I believe the definition of music is a group of sounds produced at the same time to express feelings of emotion and create a sense of harmony. Music allows people to express those emotions and share them with others all while almost creating a sense of unity between people. The benefits to music are that it can allow people to understand one another better and connect on an emotional basis. One such piece of music that gives me a sense harmony is “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars. In terms of its style the song is a mix of Pop and R&B, its rhythm follows the tune of the piano and builds off of its beat. The main instrument is the piano which is played throughout the whole
In the movies, there are a number of factors that will impact the quality of the film and the story. This is because producers and directors are using different techniques that will enhance their ability to entertain. The Sound of Music is taking numerous ideas and is integrating them together. To fully understand what is happening, there will be an examination of the film and various concepts. This will be accomplished by focusing on: the storytelling, acting, cinematography, editing, sound, style / directing, impact of the film on society / vice versa, genre, application of at least one approach and overall textual themes. Together, these elements will highlight the effects of the film and how it has influenced others inside the industry.
Orchestra concerts are an example of music being presented in an emotional and artistic manner. Often people, mainly think of contemporary music when they hear about orchestra concerts. Music composed in the late 1970s to 1990s. But its music extends to much further than that. Scores have been performed from many composers in grand concerts that originate from many sources. These sources include movies, television shows, and even video games. The level of emotion that these concerts express varying from excitement, sadness, intensity, and many others. As a listener, you feel absorbed in the dramatic conducting of the composer and the unity of the orchestra as a whole. Even the setting of the concert can be cinematic as other displays show the grandeur of an orchestra. Our bodies were meant to take in the sounds of music more so than the images. What we derive happens automatically as we drown in the mixture of emotions orchestra has to offer.
