Applications and Impacts on Hospitality Traditionally, hotel staff has always been tied down to their desktops, not that they had much of a choice, any information related to guest is only available in the PMS running on desktops and staff must access this PMS for every single guest related information or operation. Cloud has changed this and now staff can move around hotel servicing guests, they can walk up to the hotel door to welcome guest and complete a checking while accompanying the guest to his room. Any mobile device can be used to access reservation, capture guest photograph and take signature via the touchscreen of the mobile device. Cloud and SaaS has changed this and now even a small five room Bed and Breakfast can use this technology without spending any serious dollars. Cloud and SaaS can sound quiet confusing to a small property owner, who only wants to just manage his business with least amount of investment and without getting into technology minefield, vendors too are not making this any easier. Now to simplify the cloud computing, a service providing company takes over complete asset management, hotel does not need to go through pain of buying or setting anything up, and only needs to subscribe to a cloud based hotel management system, and start using the system under expected instructions, like renting a car, completing paper work, crank the engine and drive off. So the cloud systems manage complete hardware, software, database. It also manage

1).The relationship between Hospitality and Tourism: Tourism and hospitality go hand in hand, the hospitality industry offer services like accommodation, transportation, food and beverage, recreation and leisure. Tourism is the activity by the tourists where they engage in travelling to destinations where they want to experience recreational and leisure activities and most of the time avails of accommodation, food and beverage. The hospitality industry is the supplier of the services for tourism. The meaning of hospitality is providing a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons. It also means responsibly serving liquor, to ensure that patrons do not become unduly intoxicated and subsequently a problem for management, staff and the
Nowadays trends are everywhere. You can find them in every industry and they play a huge role. The retro trend in clothing, the SUV trend in the car industry, but nowhere else are trends more important than in the hospitality industry. But what exactly is a trend? A trend describes usually the time measurable course of a development into a certain quantitative and/or qualitative direction. In economics, trends are changes of the behavior of the society. In marketing research this describes the change and development of the consumerism and consumption behavior.

At the same time career opportunities are offered to people interested in the industry (Chon and Yu, 2012; Tesone, 2009; Clarke and Chen, 2007). Hotels are considered a basic element of the industry and thought to be a physical need for a guest to feel safe and comfortable when sleeping away from their home environment (Littlejohn, 2003). An interesting fact that Taylor and Bush (1974) stated in their book, was the origin of the term hotel. It originated from France and was often used back in the 18th century to refer to businesses in the hospitality industry that made a profit from their guests. The term was passed on from the country to London with the opening of the Nero’s Hotel (Bush and Taylor,

In essence, this technology came about when the culmination of Internet Service Providers (ISP) developed the ability to host web services and create a virtualized infrastructure (MSV, 2012, p. 5). A virtualized infrastructure – better known as virtualization – is where multiple servers are consolidated (MSV, 2012, p. 5). For instance, an organization can have individual servers for each of the following “roles like Web Servers, Database Servers and Messaging Servers” (MSV, 2012, p. 4). Instead of having a plethora of servers to handle these many different roles each server is virtualized to take on multiple roles here by “the data center infrastructure can be consolidated from hundreds of servers to just tens of servers” (MSV, 2012, p. 4). Initially this technology was implemented in data centers as a means for organizations to lower a data centers total cost of ownership; therefore, saving companies significant amounts of money on power bills, cooling equipment, and hardware in general (MSV, 2012, p. 5). Although today 's cloud technology is widely developing into a product called Software as a Service (SaaS) (Srinivasan, 2013, p.48). In example, services like iCloud, Google Drive, or OneDrive from Microsoft are considered SaaS (Srinivasan, 2013, p.49). These examples offer a certain amount of free storage space for users who employ their services and have an account which is usually free as well.

In Wolof, “Teranga”, is the word for hospitality. This value is so significant in Senegal that the national football team is known as the “Lions of Teranga”. Other Senegalese values such as Kersa (respect for others) and Tegin (good manners) make the country known for its welcoming nature. My masters’ degree in international peace and conflict resolution taught me that the inclusivity of Senegalese culture is an important factor for resolving wars and disputes. While having the joy of teaching English, I want to also learn about cultural characteristics that explain its peaceful nature and how they can be encouraged in other places. I entered the education field five years ago out of my love of learning. I started teaching in college and after graduation through the Every Move Counts Fellowship program that brings chess to children in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In order to better facilitate learning, I read journal articles and analyzed the results of multiple studies on both chess and pedagogy. Our team developed a better model of lesson plans on how and when to teach the basic rules and how to deal with students’ problematic behavior. The school board invited us to implement the updated program. Teachers reported that students improved in different subjects after we started. Chess teaches one to analyze situations, evaluate options, and solve problems, and the school administration understood the benefits. To ensure success, I trained the college students how
“Like a holiday apartment, an albergo diffuso allows travellers to join in village life, but the bonus is that it offers the basic services of a hotel” (Williams, 2010). In order to gain a full comprehension of the new concept, some of the salient features of this phenomenon must first be discussed. To be able to earn its name, an albergo diffuso hotel is required to meet several criteria. First, the initiative should come from within the community and a hotel must use existing buildings and local workforce. Second, the minimum number of rooms required is seven; they all should be located within 200 meters from each other. Third, the area must have some minimum services offered, such as a
This segment strategy is based on the idea that brand name is part of process of giving tangibility to what is essentially in tang legible. In this regard the brands values is based on potential guests awareness of the brand, there perception of its quality and over all customers satisfaction.
Within qualitative research, there are alternative ways of thinking, studying and writing about hospitality and tourism. Collective story telling is well suited for scholarship that seeks to contextualize lived experiences and presents research data in the form of a performance, or dialogue between characters (Parry & Johnson, 2007). Collective stories drawn from interview transcripts, field notes, memos, and other research data, help to create a fictionalized narrative (Solórzano & Yosso, 2002). Within the narrative are fictionalized characters based on interview transcripts and field notes. Cook and Dixson (2013) posit that characters in collective stories are often representative of several participants rather than just a single participant with a pseudonym. Furthermore, this performance could be used in a public forum as a way to engage audience members in critical conversations and social change (Freeman et. al, 2006).
Hotel industry has changed a lot in recent years and continues to change due to impact from technological boom we experienced in resent decades. New applications of theological inventions finding their way to hospitality market and used to help in providing better customer service and improve operations. Technology is proving to be a big difference in terms of winning new customers and creating a competitive edge. As technologies continue to evolve, so do the employees and guests continue to adjust to technologies incorporated into hospitality industry. Many systems require a great deal of training in order to be used successfully. It’s essential to have users in mind when rolling out new technologies to minimize training especially with customer facing services. The main objective of innovations should be to improve operations, guest service and revenues.
This report tells about the Revenue management systems also known as Hotel Operating System, under business conditions which may be used in real estate, intellectual property or hospitality accommodation management. They are computerized systems that help in the management of properties, private assets, and equipment, as well as maintenance, legalities and workers all through a single software. They replaced old-fashioned, paper-based methods that were both burdensome and inefficient. Nowadays, most next generation property management systems favor web and cloud technology and offer their software to customers using software as a service model.
