With the elections approaching, it is now time to concentrate on how we want to introduce you. It is critical that you earn the highest amount of votes possible so that your place in the office is secured. With in your ads, there should be strategies to influence the voters’ decisions, like testimonials/ endorsements, stacking the deck, plain folks, negative or attack ads, glittering generalities and guilt by association/coat-tailing. With these strategies stated, I have decided which one to use by evaluating the amount of information, effectiveness, and ethics so that we can achieve the largest figure of votes and prevent your opponent from winning. This criteria demonstrates which forms of campaign propaganda work the best. Campaign is the form of rivalry that candidates use in the hope of winning the elections and posses a seat in office. Propaganda is advertising used to change the point of view of either a buyer or voter. Additionally, a plan to obtain a certain goal is a strategy. Upon the one million dollars this campaign has for advertisement, I have determined that $100,000 should be given towards testimonials/ endorsements, $300,000 to plain folks, and the highest amount of money, $600,000 to stacking the deck. A great way to connect to voters is by using testimonials/endorsements, which is why I claim $100,000 should go toward this strategy. In the 1984 election for the spot of vice president, Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro used the names of groups on buttons to show support for …show more content…
Using testimonials/endorsements will show who you have similar ideals with. Connecting to your voters is very easy while using plain folks. To gain the most amount of votes, stacking the deck will promote all of your best qualities. I hope that with this letter you will will be able to see the strategies that will help you gain your seat in
The ideal president is a strong, influential person with good values. With the help of propaganda, more specifically with the glittering generalities, endorsements, and plain folks methods, you will fit this image. Today, with many technological advancements people are more easily informed about elections. The more positive and real a candidate is, the more people will vote for them. With one million dollars, three different advertisements will be created that will captivate voters and help you win the race to the presidency.
Mayhew examines the congressmen activity in Washington that is useful to engage in for the purpose of reelection. The first activity is advertising, defined by making a conscious effort to disseminate one’s name in a positive light among constituents to gain a favorable view. They emphasize personal qualities such as:
In order to raise money for the campaign, I would first find the interest groups who share same idea as I do that they also agree upon about one specific
In this day and age, political advertisements are stretched to the limits of toleration. Many of them focus more on the shortcomings of their opponents rather than the ideas and plans they have for the country. Often, the ads are nothing more than superficial smears aiming to tarnish the image of the target nominee. If the ads where kept cleaner and were more focused on important
The social media campaigns of the Canadian Federal Political Parties (Liberal, Conservative, and NDP) have been compared to one another in an attempt to understand their choices made to persuade audiences to take part in actively addressing and supporting their campaigns. Concepts discussed throughout this course have been applied to the three varying campaigns, including attention, earned media, branding, spreadability, intended audience, tone, navigation, and participation. These aspects have been prominent in all three social media campaigns and thus, have been chosen for this case analysis.
Nevertheless, the amount of money needed to run will be around one hundred thousand to eighty million, although no amount of money secures an election victory. There are many exciting ways, to raise
From the perspective of a candidate, the main goal of a political campaign is to win votes. Politicians use campaign propaganda to help achieve that goal. There are six primary strategies used in campaign propaganda: stacking the deck; testimonials/endorsements; plain folks; negative ads; glittering generalities; and guilt by association/coat-tailing. A campaign is measured by its effectiveness, whether it is informative, and if it is ethical.
Tribalism and propaganda are major factors in our government and the presidential election. Tribalism is present in our current confirmation hearings as the two political parties. Propaganda was also very important in the presidential election because it influenced the citizens’ vote. Also Trump’s cabinet will influence his actions and shape the country. In this paper, the connection between tribalism, propaganda, presidential cabinet nominees, and the presidential election will be portrayed.
One propaganda you should use Testimonies. Testimonies is when someone says something is very great. It’s helpful because it shows what you platform is on this campaign. Also this is very ethical because you are not saying negative things about the opponent. One problem is that it is not very informative about the candidate.
It is very common among the United States’ political sphere to rely heavily on T.V. commercials during election season; this is after all the most effective way to spread a message to millions of voters in order to gain their support. The presidential election of 2008 was not the exception; candidates and interest groups spent 2.6 billion dollars on advertising that year from which 2 billion were used exclusively for broadcast television (Seelye 2008.) Although the effectiveness of these advertisements is relatively small compared to the money spent on them (Liasson 2012), it is important for American voters to think critically about the information and arguments presented by these ads. An analysis of the rhetoric in four of the political
I think it will highly beneficial to your enduring 6-month political campaign if you actually look into and research the policies that you will try to accomplish, instead of saying one thing and then later on contradicting yourself and meaning something entirely different. I also recommend that you make your strategies to improve America actions that will ACTUALLY improve America instead of advertising things that you think voters want to hear. We all know that it is unlikely to make a “great wall of Mexico” because realistically it will cost more than the benefits YOU think it will have as well as causing conflict within the
Media is known as the “king maker” for many reasons, such as shaping candidates in audience’s perspective. Television has been a big influence in shaping voters choice and labeling political parties, even though some believe media information can be scant in regards to candidates. Media can be anything from television to social media networks and how many people think that media is a great influence, some also think it can be a problem. “It only takes 140 characters to damage a political campaign” in which Smith is referring to social media as being a problem. (Smith, K. 2011. Pg. 9) At the state and local levels party affiliation remains the most important. “In television age, journalist became the chief influence in the selection of candidates
When candidates develop a plan of attack for campaign advertising, they tend to aim for at least four types of commercials. One form or type of commercial is those which play on the fears of countrymen. Fear
Propaganda is performed through print, audio, and visual mass media. It is used for the promotion of the public’s activities in their life such as purchasing goods through market propaganda, and it is also found in politics, foreign affairs, and in many other fields. Most importantly propaganda is depicted in the informercialization of the news, which is connected with subliminal advertising and commercialization of public events and individual promotion such in communication websites. However, there is great debate over propaganda and persuasion that is casted in the media, which I will be elaborating in this essay.
Reform agendas presented by the candidates result in vibrant democratic politics, which requires the conscious participation of citizens. It provides a chance for citizens to engage in political activity with others. Political campaigns enable the citizens to contribute to the nomination process thus choosing the best candidate in their party. American politics involves candidates who mostly make unambiguous statements thus conveying their message to the citizens effectively. This means that the citizens have a solid basis on which to make decisions during the nominations and the elections. Distortions in communication due to misstatements are reduced by the accuracy and lack of ambiguity in information communicated the candidates (Schmidt, Shelley, & Bardes, 2009). The campaigns are effective since they result in the election of candidate with the most promising policies and reforms. The focus of the campaigns is national and social issues, which results in election and nomination of candidates that are nationalistic and with ideologies that are acceptable by most of the citizens.
