Article B Results. Ten out of 19 studies showed a significant reduction of SSI incidence (George et al., 2016). Moreover, in four out of these 10 studies, subjects received the “preoperative universal decolonization” with CHG and mupirocin and a substantial decrease in SSI was noted in non-general surgery cases (i.e. cardiac and orthopedic surgery) (George et al., 2016). One study had to be deleted due to use of other skin antimicrobial agents and CHG was used for oral rinse instead (George et al., 2016). Validity. The author of this paper considers Article B valid because of the strong external validity that it demonstrates. According to Polit and Beck (2017), replication is an essential concept of external validity. The systematic …show more content…
A significant finding from this study is that MRSA groin carriers have a higher risk of SSI compared to nasal and axillary MRSA carriers (Sasi et al., 2015). The result of the experiment showed that 10 out 21 (47.6%) treated MRSA carriers developed an SSI while only nine out 24 (37.5%) untreated MRSA carriers developed SSI (Sasi et al., 2015). This finding is the part where the author thinks that the non-randomization of samples could have affected the study outcome. The additional one person who developed SSI despite undergoing decolonization treatment in the study group resulted in a 10.1% difference in the effectiveness measurement. This result looks very significant if one looks at it percentage-wise, but when looking at the actual numbers 10 SSIs out 21 treated subjects in the study group and nine SSIs out 24 untreated subjects in the control group, it will raise a red flag that there could have been a possibility for bias since the results are too close. Validity. Article C authors assigned subjects to the control and study group depending on the surgical unit that they were under (Sasi et al., 2015). According to Sasi et al. (2015), there are four surgical units involved in their study. Patients on the third surgical unit were taken as the study group because it was the unit that had the most number of
In reviewing this article, this writer was able critique the study and the suitability that it can possess if applied to actual practice. An important factor on whether a study can be considered valuable is if it is transferable in other situation, that is, a study's results should also be reflective if duplicated on other samples (Polit & Beck, 2006). Thus, the statistical power, internal and external validity are important to observe and note (Polit & Beck). If this writer were to carry out this study, it would have to be reflective of how the researcher performed it originality.
Over the past 29 plus years of working in this school district as a teacher, vice principal, STEM coach, instructional coach, and Title 1 coordinator, I would have to say my involvement in Title 1 has had the steepest learning curve. In all of my other jobs, I was able to learn how to be a teacher, coach or administrator through university coursework and classes offered for credential renewal. However, being a Title 1 coordinator this year has put me in the “shoes of a new learner,” much like my former students where I feel as though my head may explode with all of my new knowledge. I would like to pass along my new learnings about Title 1 and why it is so important to the White Pine County School District.
All of us have formed habits in our daily life. Even though some of these habits only exist in our subconscious and we cannot actually make sure whether they are real or only the conjectures. But it is undoubted that all of our behaviors are influenced by our desires on specific objectives. In the book, the power of habit, Charles Duhigg explained the definition of a habit as an effort-saving instinct. “When a habit emerges, the brain stops fully participating in decision making” (20). To support his opinions on habits, he introduced the three-step model of a habit loop, the theory of golden rule of habit, and the role of a craving brain and belief in the process of a habit changing. Through learning
Researchers should develop custom instruments (suitable to their needs) to study the cycling transportation performance, since there are no dedicated instruments in this field of research. In this study, we developed an operational Instrumented Probe Bicycle (IPB) that is designed, built, and tested. The IPB is a completely mobile system capable of collecting a variety of empirical data. Several IPBs have been created around the world, which are different from each other based on the type of data needed. Accordingly, data collection from IPB divides into two basic categories, internal bicycle data and external bicycle data. The internal data represent the bicycle movement characteristics (e.g. speed, and acceleration), or direct influences

The preoperative procedure of using with chlorhexidine-alcohol (CHG) before surgery has been proven to be more effective to reduce the number of surgical site infections (SSI) than the use of povidone iodine. By reducing the number of infections post surgery, it can lower patient morbidity and can reduce hospital stay time and eliminate further unnecessary costs.

My interest for the Attorney Advisor position with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) arises from my longstanding commitment to constantly improve myself. I have always enjoyed legal research, writing, and the complexities of intellectual property. I have no doubt that my enthusiasm to research, my eagerness to learn, and my strong ability to communicate clearly, work efficiently, accurately, and quickly, will make me an invaluable asset to the USPTO. I believe these traits combined with my unique skillset, developed as a result of experiences working for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (Diamondbacks), Nike Inc. (Nike), and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Liability Management Department (AG Office)
“Hello mother, father, this is your Louie talking. This will be the first time in two years that you’ve heard my voice. I am now interned at a Tokyo prisoner of war camp and I’m being treated as well as can be expected under wartime conditions.” As a viewer we can see the look of pure disgust and longing upon Louie’s face. It was evident that he wasn’t eager to read what was prepared for him as it depicted a false perception of what his wartime conditions were truly like. The fact that he had to make it seem like he was well when in fact he was anything but. I am now able to understand that what those in society often herd about their captured soldiers was quite often incorrect. The enemy wanted to portray an image that hid the true conditions and circumstances the American soldiers were subject to. I not only found this film inspiring as it showed the resilience American soldiers had whilst confined in the prisoner of war camps but also found it interesting as it showed the truths of war so vividly in way that could never be achieved through the use of written words. As a result of this film I am able to see how much we owe these men for our freedom, we were never truly able to appreciate the sacrifice made by those men and women until viewing this incredible film. They went through so much to ensure the freedom of many generations to come and if it wasn’t for these men who knows what our lives would be like today.

For nearly 138 years, Brenau University has continued to uphold its slogan Extraordinary Lives. When I first stepped foot on Brenau’s campus in 2012, I wouldn’t have fathomed that four years later, this institution would shape me into the successful woman I am today. Prior to attending Brenau, I had always struggled with understanding who I was and where I belonged. Once I became a student at Brenau, I began to join organizations such as Student Activities Board and Student Government Association, and consequently, I have reached a social and academic success peak I never believed I would be able to achieve. If you are a first year college student or are transferring to a different institution, I advise you to take Brenau University into consideration.
Police Brutality has become a serious topic in today’s time being that every time you turn on the TV you see them mention another act of violence from the police and since that were in 2015, cellphone cameras are being used to capture every single second of it, so it won’t become he say, she say evidence. According to Salem Press Encyclopedia, police brutality is abuses of authority that amount to serious and divisive human rights violations involving the excessive use of force that may occur in the apprehension or retention of civilians. Police brutality has become the issue of today’s time with civilians of this country; recent examples of police
I know you that you need to resolve this, but we haven’t had a chance to revisit and chat yet and we are both out of town the start of this week. So, I thought I would just compose and quick email and send it to you so you at least know where I stand and what my response is to her request. Please understand that I’ve put a lot of thought into this and feel very strong about where I stand based on the following reasons.
Another accountable scientific principle that was not found in this article is replicability. Referring to Lilienfeld et al. (2016), this principle describes how the legitimacy of a study is tested by duplicating the findings persistently.
