Mysterion
In less than 100 words, define the term by drawing on the relevant passages in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC).
The word mysterion comes from the latin mysterium and sacramentum.
It is the way in which Christ is a sign of the hidden reality of salvation, as Christ is in essence, salvation. Mysterion is all of God’s saving work, it is everything we need for salvation.
The seven sacraments as shared with us by Jesus Christ are necessary for reaching salvation. The source and summit of Christian Salvation was the Paschal Mystery, which was made permanent in the Eucharist. It is the greatest source of God’s grace, in which we achieve unity with Christ, which is necessary for salvation. (CCC 774)

Mysterion means that the seven sacraments we get when we go to Church on special occasions, like for Baptism, the Eucharist(holy communion) , penance(reconciliation), confirmation, holy orders(becoming a priest), marriage and the anointing of the sick, are called the Mysteries of God. Especially through the Eucharist as we are becoming closer to God and Jesus. Jesus taught us how to celebrate these mysteries. By showing us these sacraments, he gave us the chance to be saved for when we go to Heaven.
