For example, children with ADHD, easily unable to remember stuffs to remember and this continual forgetfulness is not a good sign on children, because most likely this condition will progress in learning incapacities. Another concern, for instance, difficulty concentrating especially when the chore is tedious or monotonous. At first, the parent would think the child was not listening when the parent would ask a child to do something over and over. Another example, children with ADHD become very irritated once they tussle with their work, and every now and then this primes to giving up. According to Piaget, the mental notion of a child’s brain still need to develop and kid’s experience “series of stages” in life (Laura King 287). It would be chaotic when conformity does not work with kids who does not comply with rules and regulation (King 437). Kohlberg’s theory argued that proper growth involves changes with age in views, emotional state, and behavior (King 298). Yet, the abnormality of a child’s behavior can strain their effort to succeed in their daily life. When parents generated their time and effort to constantly be there for their kid’s needs, conventionality, the emotional and behavioral state involve disarray, in the society, these kids could be deviant if not properly supervised.

Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD which is often referred to as childhood hyperactivity, it 's a severe and chronic disorder for children. It is one of the most prevalent childhood disorders, and affects 3% to 5% of the school-age population. Boys outnumber girls three or more to one. Children with ADHD can experience many behavioral difficulties that often manifest in the form of inattention, being easily distracted, being impulsive, and hyperactivity. As a result, children with ADHD may develop emotional, social, developmental, academic, and family problems because of the frustrations and problems they are constantly experiencing. (Shea)
I chose to research Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, otherwise known as ADHD, in culture and child development for the following reasons. First, it is important as educators that we understand the difference between restlessness and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children. Secondly, we must be conscious of the origins of ADHD, how to recognize it, the myths and prejudices against it, and know the most appropriate intervention strategies. Educators must also realize that even if a child has ADHD that does not mean they are unintelligent or lazy.
Matt is a 38 year old, white male who has a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), has limited cognitive abilities, and a lower than average IQ. Matt has been living with his sister and brother in law for three years since their parents, who originally cared for him, passed away. Although he lives with his family members, they are not overly invested in his outside activities and do not spend a lot of time with him. Along with his diagnosis and low cognitive abilities, he has also been struggling with alcoholism and cannabis use. He has been receiving outpatient services to deal with these struggles in order to help him diminish the use of these items.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, better known by its acronym as ADHD, is one of the “hot topics” constantly being discussed in today’s psychological field. Interestingly, the debate is on whether or not ADHD is a real mental disorder. The community is divided into two distinct groups. One group believes that ADHD is a real mental disorder and should be treated as such. Others, however, believe that ADHD isn’t a disorder at all, rather it is a ploy driven by the pharmaceutical companies in order to increase sales of stimulants such as Ritalin. Within this group there are also people who believe that ADHD itself is not a disorder, however, it is part of a larger malady, or a result of poor parenting or a sugar-rich diet.
