Audience Analysis On Vegan Diets

Speechmakers understand the importance of using persuasive strategies to attract the attention of their listeners. Politicians especially, use communicative devices that are powerful enough to elicit interest from their audience. In his trial, Socrates understood the importance of using rhetorical appeal in his Apology speech, which over the years has been used by many public speakers when delivering speeches as well as in advertising. Communicators who understand the effects of ethos, pathos, and logos, also known as rhetoric devices, experience success in delivering speeches that are effective and well received, a good example is the "I have a Dream Speech” by Martin Luther King Jr.

The use of rhetoric is important, especially depending on your audience. Rhetorical devices are known for being used by Aristotle in 384 BC and even in today’s era where it is used by political leaders, spokesmen, etc. In a document written by Benjamin Franklin “Benjamin Franklin: Remarks concerning the Savages of North America” and in Red Jacket’s speech “Red Jacket Defends Native American Religion, 1805.” Ethos, logos, and pathos, along with other rhetorical devices are used by both Red Jacket and Benjamin Franklin, which is very important and can help with informing people, and even persuading them into side with a person during their speech.

Before the argument begins, the persuader needs to know what his audience is thinking, their values, and their views.

Devise strategies for persuading your audience to accept your proposal and incorporate that persuasion in your presentation of the message.

Having the elements of a clear tone, captivating, educational, or motivating speech, and the proper body language gives the impression of bonding with the speaker and the audience. Compassion and consideration is important when delivering the speech to the audience. This provides the audience with the sense that the speaker understands exactly what he or she is speaking about and possibly feel the exact way about the speech being delivered.

The number one thing most people fear is writing a speech and auditioning it publicly. Many people would rather die than to present publicly. Writing speeches to persuade people is not only a skill but art there needs to be a little bit of everything, The 3 common things in every persuasive speech is Pathos, Logos, and Ethos. Pathos is what appeals to the emotion or what tugs on the heart. Logos is something that has to do with statistics or logistics like financial cost and funding. Lastly, Ethos is using a credible source such as the former President John F. Kennedy. Analyzing JFK speech to fund NASA, I can take a look on how this 3 aspects appeal to a great persuasive speech.

For this persuasive speech, I needed to pick a topic that I was passionate about. I wanted to be able to persuade people to see my side on an issue that I truly cared about. I stumbled across a topic that I wrote a research paper on last semester, and I knew this was the topic that I needed to use in my speech: abolishing zoos. I asked a few questions to my classmates to gauge their support or dislike for zoos. I then took these results and figured out exactly who my target audience was, and what kind of speech I would be giving. The following analysis goes over the results from my survey and explains what these results mean in terms of my speech.

One topic that i can deliver as a credible speech, could be about over fishing. To build my credibility i will make sure my apperance is nice and make sure i have my audience attention an trust. I'll also give the audience a brief description about what i will be going over with them. I'm very credible in my topic because i know a lot of information about over fishing. I have many resources i had looked into such as books, the internet, social media and having discussions with peoples about over fishing. Your appearance can affect your topic selcetion in so many ways because you can dress nice but it may throw your audience off by your topic cause the way you appeared to present your topic.

Good places to locate this information include books or online sources. A good thing to note when using online sources is to make sure that they are credible sources. Using an online database at a library is a good place to find credible information. For this assignment, I volunteered at the Earthstock celebration on April 25th. Earthstock is a week long, campus-wide event that is used to educate students, alumni, and the general public about sustainable practices that help the environment. During the final Earthstock celebration, exhibitors from many different organizations, such as EmPower Solar and Vegan Outreach, set up tables displaying information regarding healthy lifestyle practices, alternative diets, and sustainable forms of energy. For this event, I was unfortunately assigned the task of helping other student volunteers and exhibitors check in and set up their tables. However, after volunteering, I was able to observe and learn about many of the organizations that had attended the event.

After listening to my speech, my audience will know how they can change their lives for a bigger challenge – to save the world.
