There’s a lot that most people doesn’t know about ADHD, which are the fact, statistics and what it is. People with ADHD would have a hard time getting along with others because the others are so brainwashed of thinking that person with ADHD is mentally crazy or plain dysfunctional. Instead of judging those who have a disorder why not help them or just stop being so judgmental because you’ve never stepped once in their shoes. The unknown of those with ADHD that most people don’t recognize is that they judge us because they see a hyper boy or girl who’s “bouncing off the wall”. Or they judge us as a stereotype thinking that those with ADHD are mentally retarded.

Deficit: a shortfall in something. Hyperactivity: the condition of being abnormal or extremely active. Disorder: a state of confusion. So, therefore, those with ADHD have a state of confusion of being extremely active with a shortfall of something or someone taken its attention.
A complex neurological disorder goes along with ADHD and also along with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) which makes it harder for those with ADHD to communicate with others because of the lack of communication. A neurological disorder is a condition which is caused by a dysfunctional part of your brain or nervous

Even famous people deal with this type of disorder. Actor/rapper Will Smith deals with ADHD and he’s not ashamed of his disorder, so he used his skills to his advantage of acting because of he such an amazing person with multiples of talent. “Famous Adults with ADHD.” Also, there are reasons why ADHD should be medicated… It can be very effective to students. It helps you pay attention and focus on the main things that need to be done. But you lose personality from the medication because of the dosage and not enough nutrition. The medication can improve your quality of life. Also, the meds help with education, friends, families, and jobs.
The stimulant can be very effective even if taken only occasionally. The drugs just stay in the body for a certain time period from 5-8 hours. 67% of families surveyed cited ADHD medication is the most “ helpful”. 80% chances that you are going to respond to the medication.
ADHD medication gives you the ability to pay attention and focus even harder. Ritalin was first used to treat ADHD for the kindergartener. Medication changes the level of a chemical in the brain called dopamine. Dosage and brand names change in medication can help maintain focus and work with your
Michael Jordan, one of the all-time greatest basketball legends, explains how to overcome obstacles in life: “If you are trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Michael Jordan, Albert Einstein, John F. Kennedy, Michael Phelps, Walt Disney (Sonny) - all of these very successful men have one significant thing in common. They are all diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperniss Disorder (ADHD). This can be considered proof that people with ADHD are capable of great things. In Jordan's quote, he talks about roadblocks and how people should overcome them. In this instance ADHD is the roadblock and medication is the way around it. Those who have ADHD should be medicated because the stigma of the disorder and medication continues to lessen with time and information, the positives of taking medication outweigh the negatives, the selection of medications is becoming more varied, and it allows the patient to advance in school and their careers. Many people are against medication due to ignorance, when all they need is a better understanding of the effects of it. The number of patients diagnosed with ADHD taking medication is rising due to the accessibility of the information. Many people are seeing how the good outweigh the bad which
The most common way to treat ADHD is with stimulants or anti-depressants. "These medications stimulate the child's "brake pedal" whereas without treatment the child is all "gas pedal" (Taylor 63)." The most common drugs prescribed for this disorder are Dexedrine, Ritalin and Cylert. They are effective for a four to five hour time period while the sustained-released tablets are effective for seven to eight hour time periods. The drugs stimulate the central nervous system similar to amphetamines. It activates the brain stem arousal system and the cortex (Bailey 2).
KIds with ADHD face a lot of challenges.A Challenge that is very common are learning Disabilities .It affects their way of learning because they are constantly distracted by noises in other students in their classrooms.THe most common learning disabilities are Dyslexia ,Dyscalculia,Dysgraphia, and Non-verbal disabilities these learning disabilities have an effect on a lot of people. An additional challenge is challenges with there sociasl skills. It affec ts there social skills because of there mood swings and
One of the remarkably renowned mental disorders in the world is ADHD, but despite being infamous, there are still stigmas and myths about it. People often listen to what the general public says than to form their own arguments or research on them. By all means, this will be a problem to all including those who have ADHD.
questionable authenticity in the eyes of others, and at times, even in how they view
I have just informed you about the basics of ADHD including its definition, and as we have seen from the study, not only would adults benefit from being treated for ADHD, but their children would also be able to reap the benefits as a result of a treated parent.
This overabundance of coverage has led to a kind of public hysteria, parents and doctors now see ADHD around every corner. It has almost become a social norm for a child in school to have ADHD. One could argue that ADHD isn't necessarily a disorder but an unfortunate byproduct of a fast paced reward driven Society. Luckily there is hope. Recent studies have been done and new tests have been designed to help curb the tide of malingering in terms of ADHD. “The IVA CPT adequately distinguished adults with ADHD from non-ADHD” (Colleen A Quinn 2003) Many people will fake the symptoms of ADHD in order to get access to the prescriptions given to those who suffer from the disorder I say few that these medications will help give them in the edge in their work or home life. Students will sometimes take these drugs and hopes that will help them focus on the paper that there trying to write or give them that needed edge to focus on the test they are taking the next day. Either is are pursuing these drugs for recreational use they are hoping for a high off of the schedule
Most people with unmedicated ADHD have multiple things going on in their minds at once. The hallmark of the ADHD nervous system is not attention deficit, but inconsistent attention. Those with the condition pay too much attention to everything, instead of having a shortage of attention. Despite ADHD's association with learning disabilities, most people with an ADHD nervous system have significantly higher-than-average IQs. They also use that higher IQ in different ways than neurotypical people. By the time most people with the condition reach high school, they are able to solve difficult problems that may stump everyone else, and can create unique, different solutions for them. ADHD individuals are also able to do work efficiently when they are challenged or thrown into a competitive environment. Until the task becomes interesting, challenging, or urgent, they get started on their work. People also with an ADHD nervous system know that, if they get engaged with a task, they can do it. People with ADHD primarily get in the zone by being interested in, or intrigued by, what they are doing. I call it an interest-based nervous system. Most people with an ADHD nervous system can engage in tasks and access their abilities when the task is urgent — a do-or-die deadline, for instance. This is why procrastination is an almost universal impairment in
One of the intervention strategies recommended in the CDC article is using medication as a way of helping young ones who suffer from this condition to lead a good life. The two common types of medication that can help children with ADHD are administering stimulants and non-stimulants that
Now that the scientists sort of know what causes the disorder, they can treat it. There are many programs and methods out there to help children with ADHD and their parents. Parents must realize that, “Medication alone is not the answer, research has shown that the most effective treatment and management of ADHD is a combination of medication and behavior modification programs [or therapy].” (About ADD) This is the most important statement an ADHD parent could hear. The type of drugs used are called stimulants or psychostimulants, they are both the same. Stimulant medications are used to control the symptoms of ADHD. They are not used to control behaviors. (About ADD) What they do is Alter the level of neurotransmitters in the brain. (Attention Deficit Disorder Association) They were first used in 1937. Effects of stimulant medications usually take effect right away. A common stimulant medication is Ritalin. People thought that was an addictive drug. In fact stimulant medications do not cause dependence. (Attention
There are many negatives involved in ADHD, but what’s often overlooked, are the positives. One of these positives is the fact that this disorder is very manageable and treatable. We have an extended amount of knowledge from numerous studies that have been done since the disorder was discovered. From these studies we now know that this disorder can affect people in many ways and be a burden on someone if not treated properly.
Medication is needed for children diagnosed with Attention Hyperactivity Deficit Disorder (ADHD.) ADHD can be a crutch in school and life and medication can help them focus, be calm, safe, and successful. For these reasons and more, parents should think about medicating children diagnosed with ADHD.
Since ADHD is a result of slower neurotransmitters, the medications and treatments used are stimulates, to “wake up” those transmitters, giving the brain the ability to focus clearly and regularly at the subject at hand. There are two systems when it comes to how the brain works. The first one, is the CNS, or the Central Nervous System. Our CNS works as the “control room” of our body. Connecting to the “control room” are “wires” or nerves, that run along our bodies picking up signals like taste, smell, sounds, etc., These signals are sent to the brain’s control room (the CNS), where it then decides what to do with these signals. The ADHD brain will run into problems when deciding what to do with all of these signals. Either
Is often misdiagnosed and can be easily mistaken for a condition, something that in time could be corrected as the child develops, instead of the chronic disease that it actually is. Through the research we found that there are three sub-types of the disease and by conducting a survey among diverse age groups we discovered that there are quite a few people that are familiar with the disease. The overall outcome we found within the survey was by having the proper diagnosis it is possible that the disease can be treated with therapy and medication. Therefore the child or adult that suffers from ADHD can live a stable and productive life, also the parents
A study done with over 710,000 children found that 10-12 year-olds with ADHD were more likely than children without the disorder to get injured. According to “Medicating Children with ADHD Keeps Them Safer” by Pinker Susan, if the children got treated with medication, there would be half as many people in the emergency room with ADHD. “The researchers found fewer and less severe injuries and health problems among the treated children.” says Pinker. Essentially, appropriate medication for kids with the disorder can reduce the amount of trouble a child gets
