Avatar the Last Airbender is a show about a boy named Aang who is the avatar which means he can bend all four elements water, fire, earth, and air. There is only one avatar, but there are other benders, who bend specific elements like water solely. Katara is one of these benders who benders water, she is Aangs best friend and crush by the end of the series. There is also Sokka who is Katara’s brother, he does not bend but is a warrior. Last but not least there is Toph, she bends earth. With all three of his friends, Aang travels the world learning how to master each element so he can be prepared to defeat the fire lord who has invaded many other nations. While on this journey he will have to defeat foes like Zuko and Azula the fire lords’ children and face many other obstacles. Throughout the show, Aang grows and matures into an amazing friend and an even better avatar bringing peace to the four kingdoms. I used to watch Avatar the Last Airbender a lot as a kid, it was one of my favorite shows because of everything it teaches kids and all the amazing things you’d see in the show. This show provided so many lessons like it's good to be well rounded, friends are amazing support systems, revenge is never the answer, and that sometimes the bad ends up making something good. All of these lessons are things I took away from this show. Being well rounded is so important as a person because it helps you later in life become a good person with so much to give. Friends being one of
There is not much that separates our kind from lower species of life. Our intellect, communication skills and opposable thumbs are a few of the many advantages to being a human. Human’s ability to construct a deep and rewarding lifelong friendship is no less incredible than any of the previously mentioned traits. These friendships are an integral part of our lives each and everyday, and friendships that last can certainly help lead to ones success later on in life. I have had many very close friends in my life and they all have helped me in their own way. Their strengths and abilities have immensely helped me in areas that might otherwise be weaknesses. In The Pact, three youths relied on each other’s guidance and strengths
Anthropology is the study of humans in the past and present. Four subfields encompass anthropology; Archaeology, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and physical anthropology. Archaeology is the study of human cultures in the past through material remains. These material remains include artifacts as well as architecture. Archaeologist can focus in prehistoric, historic, or classical archaeology. Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, is an example of archaeology in film. It is not the best example since Dr. Jones does not carry the correct equipment with him in the field (notebooks, trowel, shovel) nor does he take any notes when removing an artifact from a site. However, the film does portray how an archaeologist would dig in order to recover artifacts, like when Indy and the team find the
Despite only being in high school for two years, the friends that I have made have greatly impacted who I am as a person. Whenever I am struggling, my friends are the first people I turn to for advice. I learned from them that I always put others first even when it may cause a large amount of stress later on, am very talkative about the things I am
Friendship is one of the most valuable components in life. Friendship has the ability to change lives in a positive way. Friendship changes people’s views on life to a more positive outlook. “True friendship is when someone knows you better than yourself and takes a position in your best interests in a crisis. Friendship goes beyond sharing time together, and it is long lasting.” (Friends.com). As we spend a lot of time with our friends, friendship opens our minds to different ways of viewing the world. Unfortunately, sometimes strong barriers may be placed by those who see two people’s friendship as a threat; since people are influenced by their friends, friendship could make people question what
Without friends life is lonely and isolated. Friends are important to share enjoyable activities with, companions with whom to share worries, people to rescue you in difficulty and to be comforted at times of stress. Additionally friendships have enormous developmental implications (Murray 2009). It helps the socialising process. Also, it promotes the natural move towards “greater independence” in adolescence (Murray 2009). It does this because when you depend on someone for so long you start to branch off on our own and stop depending on others like you used to. Adolescent friendships also provide a connection to others who are at the same stage (Murray 2009).
"Washington and Hollywood spring from the same DNA." That statement, coming from a man who was a past president of Motion Picture Association of America, is an automatic sign that movie accuracy is not always the top priority of filmmakers. Something shown once in film can hardly sway someone view on a topic. However, the continuous repetition of a cut out stereotype has the power to make minds think a certain way. Since the beginning of Cinema, that has been the case of viewing the people of Arabian and Middle Eastern decent. Aside from the cliché turban and robe, what is shown is a consistent connection between any form of evil and those two particular groups of people. The reasoning for that falls behind America's political agenda.
An animated television series that ties into Transcendentalism with the concept of oversoul. In the series, the fantasy world is divided into four nations that are based on the four classical elements shown throughout many common ancient philosophies. Each generation there is one person who is capable of controlling and manipulating all four elements, the Avatar. The Avatar possesses a unique ability, that allows him/her to be able to gain knowledge, powers, and abilities of all the past Avatars that opens his/her mind, during times of need or meditation. With this ability, the Avatar’s purpose is to keep the four nations harmonious and to maintain world peace.
Avatar is a blockbuster film from 2009 and one of my most favorite Sci-fi films of all time. The film was directed by James Cameron, who is known for directing films like Titanic (1997), Aliens (1986), and the Terminator (1984), all of which helped shape the film industry into what it is today. Although at the time, there was a recession and people were trying to save money, this movie became the highest grossing film in at the time. The movie provided stunning 3D technology unlike any other movie and this was one of the reasons that made people want to go watch the film. From visual effects to the camera angles, James Cameron directed this movie to make the audience feel like they are in the movie. Although the film looked amazing, there were messages and themes inside the film that made it such a success. The film provoked discussions about various messages and themes embedded inside the film, such as terrorism, Imperialism, religious connections, and connections to current world. Such messages can be clearly seen throughout the plot of the movie.
Interpretation: The artist within this poem is addressing the fight that has been fighting for the centuries while also showcasing the leaders in said fight. All of which as mentioned above could represent an array of men who are of African decent. When one thinks about leftist movements you think of the fight against the majority, but it is clear from this video while they are fighting for equality they are leaving out other important races, ethnicities and sexes within the fight.

Have you ever seen the movie entitled “Avatar” by James Cameron? This would be our entry point to understand this thesis very well. In the movie, Human beings had already depleted Earth’s natural and mineral resources which make them to have their expedition in the other planet called Pandora to extract minerals. While extracting minerals, the inhabitant of the place called “Na’vi” which has the highest regards on nature, becomes angry to these invaders. Human being doesn’t care about it and just continue on exploiting the minerals in the planet. Human beings also begin to attack the home of the Na’vi especially the “Tree of Soul” which the human found out having the highest percentage of the minerals they needed for the people of the earth to survive. However the Na’vi won’t allow the humans to destroy their home, so they defended what belongs to them. In the end, human beings lose the battle against the Na’vi because “Eywa” ,goddess of nature, sends a very strong wave of reinforcement of wild beasts which destroys the powerful artillery of the human beings. The humans are sent back to their planet empty handed.

Crossing social class was highly looked down upon for centuries, but had become accepted by society when social mobility had expanded. To this day, however, it is still unacceptable within some families or groups. A man by the name of Walt Disney believed love could be conquered no matter what the odds were. Disney’s famous concept of crossing social classes to find true love, is used in almost every Disney film. A major motion film, Aladdin, serves as a perfect example of the famous concept. Not only was this movie based on the crossing of the rich and poor, but it also went as far as emphasizing the status of the royalty lifestyle, versus the peasant lifestyle.
Composers utilize various techniques to create distinctively visual texts which enable the responders to clearly imagine, form meaning and understand a composer 's unique perspective. In the wuxia film, ‘Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,’ (Crouching Tiger..) (2000) composed by Ang Lee distinctively visuals are presented though the ravishing romance and martial arts miracles which sweep the audience into adventures beyond imagining. The photograph of Ibtihaj Muhammad in the Time Magazine (2016) by Keith Ellison also enables the audience to gain a greater appreciation of the composer 's use of visual elements to offer a multitude of viewpoints on society. Ultimately, the distinctively visual within both texts are conveyed through;
Most of the science fiction works contain a crucial message that the writer wishes to convey to the viewers. There are two categories of film message, one is positive and the other is negative. A positive message is one that is expected to have favourable outcome to the audience, and continuously aiming to promote better societal changes. In contrast, a negative message is one that could deliver threats or unpleasant information to the audience, which could have significant impact on the normal order of the society. This essay will argue that if the message contains positive elements, then it is not a bad sign to embed science fiction works with a message. First, this essay will suggest that the well-integrated message within a particular
