Organizational Pattern: Chronological
Introduction:
I. Attention-getter: Have you ever wondered why or how a superhero became a superhero, more specifically how and why Bruce Wayne became Batman?
II. Thesis Statement: To understand why Batman is who he is, it is necessary to look at his past and what drove him to be Batman.
III. Statement of Importance: Batman is not a regular superhero, he has no natural powers, he is just an ordinary man who can inspire people to better themselves and help others.
IV. Statement of Credibility: I have seen all of Christopher Nolan’s adaptions of the Batman Trilogy, read some of the comics and have seen the cartoon

Batman, having faced death numerous amounts of times, has become more than just a human. He is able to fight evil, like never before and he is rewarded, often by glorification.
We have discussed that Batman is ferocious and evil but does display some admirable qualities. He works with the police commissioner Jim Gordon from the first till the last film; he aids the police, although in an anti democratic way, in taking down some of Gotham’s worst criminals. Coupled with this we see Batman’s compassion in many scenes. We see Bruce Wayne in the first film refusing to kill a guilty man, we see Batman not killing the joker in the second film even when he had ample time and opportunities. Lastly the films are all super hero based, the trilogy is about us viewing Batman as the eventual hero, and I personally do view him as the hero but I view him as a flawed hero, a hero whose ways are not always what Gotham wants but what it needs.
The modern world is filled with different kinds of heroes. To some, heroes are sports figures who are winning not only on the playing field but also in life. To others, heroes are family members or in most cases fictional characters, (superheroes), who are fighting against evil. That being said everyone has a hero figure that he or she views as a role model, it is who they are striving to be like. An example of the modern hero that will be discussed in the remainder of this paper comes from The Batman Trilogy, which happens to be Batman himself.
There are many other reasons as to why Bruce Wayne is not just a superhero but rather a person who has a disorder. When he "switches" from Bruce Wayne to Batman, he does not even notice. It is almost as if it is automatic. Nobody realizes that the respectable businessman Bruce Wayne is Batman by night. It appears that he is Batman for many reasons but a major one is that he fears that something terrible will happen to other people just like it happened to him when he was younger. He tries to save others from getting hurt from outlaws and evildoers.
Batman is more of a vigilante than a hero because he has the ability to stop crime but doesn’t. He goes about “protecting” the city
Kane used these anecdotes of Da Vinci’s adventures to again mold Bruce Wayne’s transition into the Batman. During his early childhood, Bruce Wayne falls into a cave, thus beginning his path to the greatest DC superhero of all time. Kane turned the fear and mysteriousness of caves into a pivotal point that would influence Wayne’s future significantly. Just as Da Vinci wanted to explore what he himself feared, Kane illustrated The Batman as a superhero who turns his fears into
Although Superman is unable to be controlled or contained, Batman is much to unpredictable and goes well outside of the law to get what he needs. Superheros are the fictional embodiment of all of our greatest aspirations, they are also a symbol of hope and give families a lightness in times of hardship or struggle. Sometimes people need something to take their attention off of everyday things. From the day we are able to walk, people want to run, but what happens after we run? We want to run faster, jump or even fly. As people we naturally want to be able to do more. Since we can’t do these thing that we all dream about doing, people write and tell stories about people that can do the things we can’t.
Batman originally began as a DC Comics' detective a superhero quite different from the one envisioned by Nolan and company today. Batman was created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 for Detective Comics, and for more than two decades it depicted a hero defined by his mystery-solving techniques and cast of quirky characters against whom his braininess and eccentric costume could be balanced (along with his knack for solving crimes). Needless to
One reason Batman has gained a large following is because many aspects of the stories are relatable and realistic. Unlike many other superheroes, Batman doesn’t actually have superpowers, he is only successful because of his mixture of smarts, strength, wealth and his perseverance
The changes to the storyline in the movie Batman Begins are important to the growth of the characters and the icon of batman. The movie starts off as Bruce Wayne, a young child. At this time he develops a fear of bats after falling into a bat cave and being attacked. After his father rescues him he asks his young son “Why do we fall Bruce? so that we can learn to pick ourselves up”. This quote comes up more than one time throughout the movie and drives Bruce Wayne to continue his fight against injustice. This part of the movie provides a backstory to why Bruce Wayne
Batman is one of the many fictional superheroes which appears in the “American comic books” that is published by the DC comics. The character is a secret identity for Bruce Wayne, the only heir to Wayne Enterprises. Bruce Wayne swore an oath of vengeance when he witnessed the death of his parents;Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne (Diamond, 2015). Bat man combats criminals in Gotham: a fictional city, with assistance from various characters, for example, his butler Alfred and Gordon; Gotham city police commissioner. Unlike many of the superheroes characters, Batman possesses no powers .Bruce Wayne trained himself intellectually and physically .it is from dedication to training he possessed the useful traits of physical prowess, martial arts skills, detective skills and indomitable will to fight for justice. Though his motive is to combat crime and protect people of Gotham city from criminals, the justice system in most of the times views Batman as a villain and vigilante. He can inflict fear to Gotham city criminals thereby bringing calmness to the city. I identify myself with the Batman character through his selfless will for justice, his strong determination to do good
Another way in which Batman displays himself as a Byronic hero is his function as a subversive character which refuses to submit to demonic forces. He tries to appear to be a man who is morally upright. However, Batman is unable to separate himself from the pain of his parents ' untimely death, which gives him a new identity as a mysterious masked crime fighter. In most books and films, he tries to put this tragic incident behind him without much success. As Peter J. Tomasi indicates, “instead we see a presentation of Batman’s powers by exacting strange acts in the name of justice like teleporting hotheaded” (1).
Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins opens with the first two scenes laying the entire groundwork for Bruce Wayne's transformation into Batman. Among the varying opinions of psychologists one thing stays consistent, the influence early childhood has on the psyche. We first see Wayne waking from a nightmare from when he was a child; while playing with his childhood friend Rachel Dawes, he had fallen into a well and was attacked by a colony of bats. It then fast forwards to Wayne as an adult, in prison and confronted by a man who leads the League of Shadows, Henri Ducard. In conversation he tells Wayne the what separates them from vigilantes is that a vigilante is a mere man lost in the scramble, but if you become more than man, devote yourself
Batman’s violent actions in Frank’s Miller comic book demonstrated the darkness of his heroic personality. After ten year retirement, Batman became more troubled to Gotham City turning to a crime-ridden and a fugitive. According to Joseph Campbell words “everything begins with a story”. The beginning of Batman’s story started after the death of his parents. They were shot by some criminals because they were going to steal and hurt them. Having to experienced this horrible scene on his childhood, traumatized Batman
Both Superman and Batman started on a similar path, both raised by adoptive parents and wanted to pursue a sense of justice. Losing a parent is never easy, especially when you lose both of them at the same time. In one scene in the film, Batman, also known as Bruce, has just left an opera scene because it triggered a sense of fear. When the family walked through the back alley on their way home, they were mugged by a stranger at gunpoint. The stranger wanted Bruce’s father’s money and his mother’s pearl necklace. The stranger pulled the gun on Bruce’s mother but his father jumped in front of her instead, which resulted in getting them both killed. Bruce now has just lost both of his parents at the same time and
