3. Membership to the Boat Forces Advisory Council will allow me an opportunity to assist in shaping the Boat Forces community and to provide insight to a consistently evolving mission. I feel the Coast Guard forms policy and procedures based off of operational, ‘deck plate’ level feedback and insight. My operational background and experience on several different platforms as well as the collateral duties I have held have provided me with experience and insight that I believe would be beneficial to senior leadership. This opportunity provides me an avenue to ensure future boat operators are not subjected to unnecessary risk by helping to shape and improve the current standards. I feel I have insight and experience to offer the Boat Forces Advisory
In reference to the second proposal, this topic would apply to the Brigade as a whole. The theme in both the short story The Boat by Alistair Macleod and the poem Warren Pryor by Alden Nowlan have direct connections. Both works reflect the theme of obligation versus aspiration, and promote the message that it is difficult to be happy with a career chosen in order to please someone else. In each story, the protagonists feel compelled to follow a path that is not their own, but rather one chosen for them by their parents who are blind to the protagonist’s true desires. The narrator in The Boat is conflicted throughout the story as he tries to reconcile his own ambition of attending university with the expectation he will continue the family tradition as a fisherman. At the beginning of the story, he describes how his family is

This person is seeing his allies travel up the wall to try to take over the Empire. He also sees his other allies shooting their bow and arrow at the enemies like he is. “The Open Boat” by Stephen Crane is a very accurate title that can be viewed in a couple of different perspectives. In this story, the characters show their true selves as their personalities and traits come through as they face their situation. In addition, the boat is open, small, and exposed to the angry ocean, which shows how fragile life can be when facing nature. The story is loosely based off his experience of being shipwrecked, which prompted Crane to write this story. Experiences can help you write stories and create characters and environments that seem real. In the Open Boat, Crane used his past fully as it relates to a tragedy at sea. With this approach, he could write how the characters in the story interacted and played off each other’s personalities in a dangerous location thus giving it good imagery. The personas of the different characters come out in how they react in certain situations by the tasks performed when trying to survive. To many, the story represents tradition as it relates to a crew and their captain.

Basically, the Limitation Act covers misfortunes that happen on the traversable waters of the United States to include individual injuries and damages to equipment. Traversable is a key point in this act because if the waters are not traversable then the owner is not qualified for the losses or injuries that occurred.
If you go to a tailor to have clothes made, they'll start the process by whipping out a tape measure and taking a series of measurements. The same thing applies when you are trying to fit your boat for a new cover.

Born into a family of sailors, international travel has been a theme of my life, giving me the opportunity to experience different cultures and to fuel my love for all things shipping since I was an infant. I loved spending my cherished summer vacations every year on board my father’s ship. My sister & I spent curious afternoons exploring the ship deck and playing pretend Captain on the bridge, while our Master Mariner dad took command of the actual running of the ship. Although, I was oblivious back then that my childish observations would one day be my future career interest, I knew in my heart that – ships, the sea and everything about running a ship is what I love. Today, I find myself fascinated by the Laws of the Seas, Admiralty and Shipping & hence I envisage myself following my heart and my love for Maritime by pursuing a Master’s in International Shipping Law.
