The school was first established in 1916 as a four-room facility until the rapid growth of the area called for an expansion. Finally, in 1964, the newly built campus was completed offering a large, modern school for the community to enjoy (School Profile, 2016). In recent years, the school has received numerous awards and honors distinguishing their excellence. The most prominent recognitions include; Red Carpet School Award, Palmetto’s Finest Finalist, and Palmetto Gold Award Winner (School Profile, 2016). Additionally, the school receives and has access to many supports and resources from the community. One of the most involved is the school’s PTA (Parent Teacher Association). This support system is involved with the school’s daily functioning and funds many grants, school activities, additional classroom needs of teachers and educational needs of students. There are also several churches actively involved with the school and take on a multitude of roles. Their most common roles within the school include working with students, managing a weekly club and providing teacher lunch breaks. Church groups also supply and continue the Backpack Program which supplements a weekend food supply for students who face food insecurity. Finally, other community resources include a volunteer group who is a part of the Lunch Buddy program, a mentorship program providing at-risk students
I feel that this case was somewhat representative of what was discussed in the textbook. The forensics aspects of this case were generally different from the impression of forensics I received from reading the textbook. Despite this fact, I feel that the investigative techniques of this case were similar to what was discussed in the textbook, as well as what has been discussed during lecture.
