Introduction:
Petroleum Development Oman has discovered and. put into production more. than 74 oil fields in the desert. interior of Oman, where the company’s concession area encompasses about two thirds of the land area of Oman. The Marmul Main Production Station (MMPS) is located in the south of Oman, approximately 800 kilometers south of Muscat, and 60 kilometers inland.
The primary function of Marmul Main Production Station (MMPS) is to dry the crude oil received from the nearby Marmul Gathering Stations and from other connected fields. Marmul Main Production Station separates gas and water from the oil. The produced water is treated prior to disposal. The Marmul Main Production Station teams are divided in two groups or two shifts, one shift is on duty 15 days and other shift is in rest days 13days. Whether a light bulb needs to be changed, a critical audio or visual component shorts out, or the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) system goes out, proper maintenance could be the factor that saves or destroys an event before it even begins. Proper maintenance can not only save the organization from unscheduled downtime but it can also prevent unwarranted cost. For example: if a vehicle doesn’t have its oil regularly serviced, it could cause the vehicles engine to fail possibly causing thousands of dollars of damage. The same thing can be said when it comes to a facility and its maintenance.

All tasks involving manual handling must be risk assessed and controlled. Responsibilities for all levels of employees and management must be identified, communicated and discharged effectively by all concerned. Equipment will be provided to assist in manual handling where a need is identified as part of a control measure. This equipment will be used appropriately and maintained well at all times with all operators certified where this is required under law.
