“The Living Planet report calculates that humans are using 30% more resources than the Earth can replenish each year” (Jowit, 2008). Despite this shocking information, the scientific community around the world are not focus only on a future lack of resources, but also with the possible cause and effects of climate change. Both topics are directly related with the future of human life. Since people need the nature to provide them food, fresh water and material to produce their daily thing, the lack of resources is a reality. In addition, according to the article “The Consequences of Climate Change” published by NASA scientists had predicted loos of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise and longer, more intense heat waves as some the effects of climate change by 2100 (NASA, n.d.). Thus, it is clear that there is an agreement that both issues will seriously affect the future of humanity. However, the scientific community has doubts about which of these themes is crucial for the survival of human beings. Taking into account how quickly the natural resources have been consumed, the effects will be felt earlier than the climate change outcomes. When it comes to the environment, in this specific case about climate change and the depletion of natural resources, reflection on how these issues relate to and influence human life is inevitable. In the case of climate change, for example, the article “Climate Change and Human Health” published by the U.S Global Change Research Program
The primary goals of this essay is to provide a current description of processes within climate change, and to give an insight on the relative contribution of natural and human sources, with a particular emphasis on the implications for us. There will also be an understanding of linkages between atmospheric carbon and climate change, the views on apparent disagreements related to the climate change discussion, and the thoughts on ways forward. The idea that humans are causing climate change is the position of the Academies of Science from eighty countries , plus many scientific organizations that study this area. More specifically, around 95% of active climate researcher’s actively publishing climate papers endorse the consensus position.
Climate change is the change in weather patterns for an extended period of time and is also referred to as ¨global warming.¨ It is a widely researched and controversial topic because some do not believe it is actually a problem in the world today. However, a few academic sources and NASA (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has ample evidence and resources to prove that it is a problem. Climate change and global warming is occurring in the world today and it has extreme effects on the earth's environment.
The world is constantly changing and adapting. In particular, since the mid twentieth century, mankind has been pouring alarming levels of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. As if that isn’t bad enough, humans have been treating the earth as if it is one giant trash bin. This destruction is being cause by a few different reasons, including: factory farming, dumping toxic chemicals into water, littering, and many other factors. All of this is adding up to cause climate change. Unlike a change in weather, climate change is a terrible thing for the ecosystem and environment of the planet. It brings up the question, how is this problem to be corrected? The answer could possibly be found in the Disney tale, “The Lion King”.
Sense 1998, the Earth has produced over 2.5 billion atomic bombs worth of heat because of an event that can occur called climate change. Climate change is the change of global or regional climate patterns that usually occur because of the rise of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Although many people disagree about climate changes existence it can be proven as a reality when the statistics are shown on how climate change can begin, how climate change is affecting our daily lives, and evidence that proves climate changes existence.
Climate change is when a change in the weather patterns takes place and last for an extended period of time, unfortunately the people that are poor are typically the ones effected the most by climate change because they tend to live in warmer climates that are more susceptible to climate change. "People who are socially, economically, culturally, politically, institutionally or otherwise marginalized are especially vulnerable to climate change," (Goldenberg, 2014) Since climate change is warming the earth, the countries that were already warm to start with, like places near the equator, are getting even warmer. This leads to multiple natural disasters, reoccurring droughts and frequent health risks. Additionally, it has also been proven that the people that are living in these poorer countries are the ones that are contributing the least to climate change, however, they are being effected the most by it. This is very unfair and a vicious cycle, as the people that are contributing the most to climate change are hardly being affected by it and therefore, continue to do it because it is not harming their way of life. Overall, climate change is the change in weather patterns and typically makes our climate warmer which effects poor people the most because they live in warmer climates which causes more natural disasters, health risks, and droughts.
Everyday people and countries are affected by climate change and it’s effects. It may not seem serious now but one day it will so here is how climate change is caused and how it could be prevented. Climate change is not one big event it happens over many years. It may happen slow but it's effects can happen faster than we know, just because it's not affecting you now it doesn't mean that it won’t at all. Just remember that only we can stop climate change and help prevent it.
It is obvious that climate change is real, and humans are having an inordinate impact on the natural processes of the earth. This impact is leading to changes in the storm system of the Atlantic Ocean. The increase in overall global temperatures is leading to an increase in ocean surface temperatures. When looking at the process of hurricane creation, it is clear that this increase in temperature will affect the creation of tropical storms. Warmer oceans create more intense hurricanes. Also, historical records provide definitive proof of an increase in hurricane activity in the Atlantic. Over the past few centuries, increases in size, intensity and rainfall have been detected by thousands of scientists. Scientific models such as those created by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) suggest an increase in intensity of tropical cyclones due to anthropogenic changes. These changes are detrimental to society and are a direct consequence of human induced climate change. If climate change continues to worsen, so will the intensity and effect of tropical storms. The increase in sea surface temperature due to human activity is unquestionably contributing to an upsurge in intensity of tropical storms and hurricanes.
Climate change is the most prevalent challenge in achieving sustainable development. The evidence for rapid climate change is compelling, not only is it having effects on the natural environment for example causing rising sea levels as research shows that ‘Global sea level rose about 8 inches in the last century’ (Shaftel 2017) , rising temperatures on land and sea, more droughts and floods and effecting the balance of nature, it is also having destructive effects on human
Recently is has been discovered that there isn’t any snowfall so far this 2017 winter in the United States. Climate change and global warming is very real, usually by December, the East Coast is covered in snow. The world is expected to get even warmer, it is expected to gain 2.2 degrees by 2030 if the world’s careless actions continue to occur. Climate change is caused by chemical reactions taken place by the usage of fossil fuels. The world should change its actions to stop climate change by innovating a new form of transportation, and the usage of less or close to zero of coal and oil.
Climate change is one of the hotly debated topics all over the world. The argument ranges from the causes of climate change to the mechanisms that can be used to control and inhibit further climate change. As such, individuals from around the globe are being encouraged to become more conscious of their environment because it means safeguarding their future. However, there are a collection of individuals, termed as ‘climate deniers,' who argue that climate change is not real. Instead it is a myth that has been passed down for many years. These deniers have gone to great lengths to convince the public and other leaders that global warming is a hoax and the country stands to lose should the government enact measures to control carbon emissions. This paper discusses politics, economic costs, mistrust of scientific data, fear of competition from China, and skewed media reports as the leading causes of climate change denial.
“Natural disasters have killed more than 600,000 people and left behind trillions of dollars in damages in the last two decades, the United Nations said Monday.” (Chan) Extreme weather has caused millions of casualties and extreme damages over the years, but lately there has been an increase in severe weather events. This is causing problems in the US, with the amount of tornadoes rising in tornado alley “Tennessee experienced a 67 percent increase in tornado activity in 1983-2013 compared to the 1954-1983 time period. Oklahoma experienced a nearly 35 percent decrease in tornadoes in 1983-2013 compared to 1954-1983.”
The Earth’s temperature is rising, the oceans are warming, glaciers are retreating and because of this, our sea level is rising and more (Climate Change Evidence). The climate changing has the potential to completely damage our world. Animals, plants, ecosystems and our health will all be affected. Changing weather patterns are already wreaking havoc in coastal areas and areas prone to flooding. While other areas are experiencing droughts and wildfires (The Threats of Climate Change). Human activity on Earth is to blame. We are causing a “greenhouse effect.” Burning fossil fuels, coal, oil, driving cars and more are attributing to this (Climate Change Causes). Yet, with all this evidence in hand, climate change is still a hotly debated topic in our society. However, a study in 2010 found that 97-98% of climate researchers that are most active in their field all agree that human activity is the primary culprit for global climate change. This same study also found that the proficiency of researchers that do not believe humans have caused climate change is "substantially below" that of researchers who believe that humans have caused the climate to change (Climate Change Procon.org). Instead of increasing funding to research, or putting forth funds to establish clean energy, our President, Donald Trump, has slashed the budget of the Environmental Protection Agency. He cut 80 million dollars from them (Mundahl). May Boeve, executive director of the environmental group 350.org,
Climate change is one of the biggest news headlines of today. While there are skeptics that believe that global warming is just a hoax, there are many undeniable phenomenons happening around the world. The effects of climate change, in the long run, will be catastrophic if it is left alone. In just the past two months, there have been four hurricanes that made landfall in North America, and a wildfire more aggressive than has ever been seen before, ripping through California, killing forty people and leveling almost six thousand structures. Millions of Americans are displaced due to these unusually aggressive storms and the fires raging throughout California. Arctic species have seen massive reductions in their populations, with less food to eat, and less mates to breed with. The toxicity of the air in urban cities and contamination of waters outside these cities is on the rise. If the world keeps dismissing the importance of climate change, there will be calamitous consequences for the future generations. The effects of climate change, if not fixed, will be Arctic ice melting, reduction in animal populations, habitats threatened, and the air toxicity and seasonal allergies to humans. The causes include the greenhouse effect and air pollution.
Climate change has become one of the greatest issues facing our world. With the conclusion of the recent international climate summit, the climate has been one of the most talked about topics in the world. From any newspaper to television to presidential elections, it is always a relevant topic. Why has the climate though, of all things, gained so much attention and tension? Why is it bad that the climate is changing? The climate of the earth experiences cycles of warming and cooling. Since the Jurassic age, the climate has undergone these changes, which have had a substantial impact on the inhabitants of our planet. Humanity’s place in this cycle is the end of cooling which was the Ice Age and
Climate change is an issue that is of major concern all around the world. Climate change should be a major concern right now and countries around the world need to implement changes to help improve the current conditions. Countries like the U.S. should set an example for everyone else by enforcing strict regulations on emissions and investing in clean energy sources to prevent further pollution of the planet and extreme weather cases directly linked to climate change. There are many causes of climate change, Current power plants burn fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas to generate electricity, however it is known that the burning of these fuels are dangerous and are a huge part of climate change. “The burning of these fuels, however, emits carbon dioxide, a gas that contributes to a phenomenon known as the greenhouse effect, which gradually causes the planet to warm and its climate to change” (Facts On File. Infobase Learning). These greenhouse gases absorb the heat from the sun and radiate it towards the Earth, however it also prevents some of the heat from leaving so this can lead to an increase of extreme weather cases. Scientists warn that if global greenhouse gas emissions are not reduced, the resulting climate change will lead to violent weather patterns, droughts, food scarcity, melting glaciers, and a rise in sea levels, all which could ultimately render the planet uninhabitable.
