Apple is one of the largest electronic companies around the world and has evolved from a leading developer of personal computers towards a leader in innovative technology by expanding its business model to include digital music, digital TV and mobile phone platforms. Apple experienced distribution and sales with a creative retail strategy to include online retail sales, allowing growth in becoming one of the top 3 computer makers in the USA.

Steve Jobs founded it with two other cofounders in a garage; this is where the original apple computers were produced. The company has felt ups and downs due to the highly competitive environment they are in. Apple struggled for survival in the absence of Steve Jobs; with his return he was able to turn the company around towards success. Through these extravagances as a leader, style is more or less a mixture of ‘Tyrannical’ and ‘Compelling Leadership’. Tyrannical leadership style refers to a leader having authority over its personnel; and a compelling leadership style refers to inspiring passion among its personnel.
The leadership style that Steve Jobs used at Apple reinforced their tactics and aligned them with the rebuilding of the organisation, this saved Apple where the “nice-guy” approach wouldn’t have worked.

Looking at the future of the company, we see a few challenges that require a solution. Some analysts believed that Apple’s closed “Eco system” might hold the company back again from its potential mass appeal. Another challenge for Apple is that they should prepare for a future without Steve Jobs due to the fact that he is diagnosed with a fatal disease. A third challenge that arises from the case is if Apple should focus more on the consumer electronics or on the computer
