Christianity And Islam Similarities

Saint Augustine once said, “faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe (Faith).” There are many different religions throughout the world and there are many similarities and differences, but they all center around having faith. However, they all believe in something different. Christianity believes in one God, and Islam also believes in one God. Someone might say that Christianity and Islam have nothing in common, but they agree on more than one might think. They have similarities because they both trace back to the same start, but they are also different because even though they started the same, they stray apart over time. According to Molloy, “Islam literally means “surrender” or “submission,” indicating wholehearted surrender to God, and a Muslim is one who submits to God (Allah) (Molloy, 2013).” While the word Christian comes from the word Christ. Which according to a Christian website, Christian means, “anointed one (Christian, 2017).” This is a very interesting difference from where each gets their name. The Islam name comes from giving praise to God, and making sure that He is the most important. While the Christians and the Muslims both take a similar stance on God, the Christians name comes from the name of Jesus Christ the Son of God.
