College: Is It Worth It Or Debt For A Degree?

In today's world many people question or education system and question whether or not the cost is of college is worth it just to continue your education. Although you inquire a lot of debt in college. Getting a degree is almost necessary in today's job market because most jobs require one and jobs that do not require a college degree are getting harder to get, as the unemployment rises. Therefore a college degree is worth incurring significant debt. Earning a college not only provides you with job security and provides potential for greater lifetime earnings.

A lot of people will argue, that college is too expensive. Not everyone can go to college, for financial reasons. Also, they may get into college, but end up having to leave because they cannot afford the remaining balances; or, they received financial aid, but end up having to take out loans they are going to be paying back forever. It is like once they graduate they will be working mostly to pay off their student loan debt. This also discourages some students. In some cases, they will not even take the initiative to try because it is so costly. I do not understand why it cost so much to want to better yourself, and possibly put us in debt for the rest of our life just to receive a higher education. Not only has the cost of college risen over a period of time, but it continues to go up. Yes, they have alternatives for paying student debts, but what if you do not qualify? Lastly, you are not guaranteed a job just because you graduate and have a college degree(s).

Is going to college really worth the cost ? Attending college should be about getting a higher education and figuring out what career students would pursue that they would enjoy after graduating. College should help students grow in a positive direction. Yet instead students go to college because that is expected of them after high school. Not knowing the difficulties they would have to face. Most students do not know what they truly want to do with their life. Which can be a very bad venture, especially since college is so expensive. Although opponents claim that college is a good investment, it honestly is not worth the cost because it does not guarantee employment, it burdens students with student loans, and it does not prepare students for the workforce after graduation.

Many think college is not worth it, however when I think of college not being worth it, I ask myself what is “it”? Is college not worth the sacrifice, time, or stress? In this case, many are not college material, simply for lacking the amount of effort and self motivation it takes to get through college. I oppose with the statement “For many, College isn’t worth it” because college is worth everything it takes for you to become great in the field you choose to study. Many people are not able or do not have the mindset to get through college, but that do not mean they will never have the mindset. Most people do not work hard under pressure or have great skills at testing or learning at a slow or fast pace. Some people believe that after highschool, since it is required, that going straight into an occupation is better for them. In my opinion, college is a stepping stool for achieving higher education and newer knowledge for the area you decide to infiltrate. I believe the educational world is bias to the brainpower of many people and people of the world is bias to the things they are capable of doing. Therefore, I am confident in stating college is worth it because having a college background ensures you quicker job opportunities, college gives you knowledge to become disciplined and self-motivated, and; college also enhances your communication skills.

In our society today, college is something that one is looked upon to do. Today our society is mostly looked at by our education level rather than who the person truly is. Now society is also looking at this generation for us to know that to succeed, one might set high goals for their self, which means going to college and pursing a degree. On the other hand, there are some people in this world that graduated from high school and have never been to college and are just happy with their life like it is. There are two ways to look at this topic. One is that college is worth the cost and another view is that college is not worth the cost at all. College is worth the cost. Yes, it can be expensive depending on where the high school graduated would like to attend to earn their degree, but education is something that is worth the cost and very valuable and something one will never lose.

College is worth it because you will have a better job and pay then you can support yourself and your family. College student debt grows year by year, which means many students are unable to pay back their loan because they drop out of college or unable to find a job that can help they

College is where you go to get higher sources of education. Many high school students dream of attending college in order to attain more knowledge, yet so many people fail to realize the cost of college. Attending college, currently, is nearly impossible to do without being in some sort of financial debt or seeking out government help. In today's world college is a major aspect of our society. However, many argue whether or not everyone should actually go to college. Not everyone should go to college for two main reasons. Not everyone that goes to college can graduate because they don't take it seriously or they are just not smart enough and they end up just wasting money. Second, not everyone can afford college and depending on what job you get, you might acquire so much debt it will very hard to pay off later and college might not be worth it.

Even though tuitiion costs have raised by almost 50% over the course of 30 years people still argue that college is still worth the price. One supporting reason that will always apply to this argument is, the fact that college graduates earn more money and have a much easier time finding employment than their peers who only have a highschool diploma. Others might state that though not all careers recquire a four-year degree, most do. With that being said a college degree can almost always give you ta head start and better skills for/in any field. Opposers also use Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg to say their choices to leave school were based off of billion dollar ideas, and that the two were already computer geniuses when their decisions were made. To add to that supporters of attending college would say , it’s not all about the learning material. The choice to attend college gives students the opportunity to gain financial responsibility, students usually learn how to put needs before wants when they attend college. Lastly whether it’s your peers or professors college provides students with the time to meet, and get to know new people, with new ideas who may challenge, inspire, encourage or even work alongside one another. This would be used by college supporters to show that college is also a networking tool, or maybe a student could just want a change of scenery. For some people the number 1 reason to go to college is to go away/move to a new location. Some may want to just escape the cold and move down south, others may want to get out of small towns and explore the world. There can be many reasons to attend college like just to live in dorms and experience a home without parents, all of these prove to opposers that college is still worth

College can still be worth it for many people when they are deciding on their future path. College doesn’t have to be very expensive, there are many scholarships that students can apply for to help reduce the cost. Also, having a college degree will allow the person to have the option for career changes in their lifetime. Some colleges offer work co-op programs,an internship, where the person can get a degree, learn their skill, and make money. This allows them to feel more comfortable in their field, and it helps to eliminate some of their student debt. These are just a few of the reasons why college can still be very beneficial to people, and why college can still be worth it for many people.

Many Americans that are young adults state that college is too expensive for them, so they say that college is not worth its cost. A majority of college graduates, on the other hand, claim that college is definitely worth its cost. To me, I also believe that the cost for college is worth it. It helps the college graduate have a mentally matured mind and a more successful career than those who have never gone to a college.

Depending on the environment a student is being raised in have a lot to do with how this question could be answered. Students in a higher curriculum education center are taught that college is an opportunity to experience an intellectual awakening, while students in a middle/low curriculum educational center are taught basically that college is a meal ticket which poses problems. Going to college is a very major step in life because it helps a person to identify a lot of things you never learned as a child. I agree that college should be sold to each student as a privilege to connect to a study that you have a passion to pursue one day. If college is taught to just make more money it could jeopardize a lot of time, put others at risk, and hinder you from really succeeding in life.

To most people college is their goal at succeeding in life. Whether you get a scholarship or pay yourself, college is expensive. To some it is a waste of time and money due to the fact that, graduates are not getting their money's worth in their degree, they are burdened by student loans, and their degree does not guarantee them a job. With that and a growing tuition rate, most people can't afford a higher education. College is simply not worth the cost anymore.

As a person talks about college, the most common word that comes out is debt. For me, college meant more opportunities. Opportunities behind my imagination. Talking to all my friend about where I would be attending this fall, they all seem surprised because of how much the school costs. But one thing they didn’t realize or consider was how hard I worked to get into that school and what my goals were that made me decide to go there even though I might end up in some debt. Some people decide to go to college for the party life, the idea of being Ivy league, big name schools, in another word, prestige, that was not the case for me. I decided to go to Lehigh because of the financial aid I received and the resources provided to students on campus. To me getting a college education wasn’t a choice, it was a stepping stone that I needed to step on for me to compete on part with some people who gets everything handed to them without the need to work as hard. On one hand, I believe a college education is worth it because a college education gives those with a disadvantage a chance to fight on part with those who gets everything handed down to them from an older generation and those who were gifted enough to not need a college education to succeed. On the other hand, I also believe a college education is being overpriced where a life debt is placed upon you.

High school students are often stressed how important college is and how vital it will be for their future, but students often wonder if the thousands of dollars spent to further their education is worth it. According to the New York Times, “Student debt, meanwhile, has topped $1 trillion” (Leonhardt, 2014). Having that much in student debts, often questions individuals attend college or to join the work force right out of college. There are a lot of advantages of attending college as well as disadvantages of attending college. As an individual, you have to be the one to decide if it will be worth it or not. Some may view it is not worth all the debt in the long run, whereas some think it is worth every penny in the end. I have always had strong values when it came to education, therefore I think college is worth every penny.
