The American Red Cross is an independent organization established in 1881. It is supported by financial donations and volunteers. Its mission is to make suffering less severe to victims of disasters and help people, prepare for and respond to emergency situations around the world.
The critical issues presented in the case are the leader’s management style and how the ARC is seen in the public eye in addition to their communication system. For example, there were conflicts with the board getting along with different ARC presidents. The donations to support 9/11 attack was redirected for future relief efforts that caused some of the donators to be annoyed.
