Much of the international news right now seems to relate to the crisis situation created by the civil war in Syria. The topic is on the minds of politicians, especially regarding the Syrian refugees hoping to escape the dangers of the war. Syrian rebels are attempting to overthrow the existing government. Some of these rebels have the support of the United States while others, such as those who are connected to ISIS, do not. Russia has intervened on the side of the Syrian government. The reasoning for their intervention is perceived differently depending on the political theory followed in the explanation. The three major theories in international relations are realism, liberalism, and constructivism -- each of which will be discussed in terms of how they would explain the Russian intervention in Syria.

There is an increasingly growing global controversy about whether the United States should intervene in the Syrian conflict, and whether this intervention should be military or strategic. The U.S. has recently avoided interfering militarily in Syria or providing the rebels with direct support, but admitted the presence of the Syrian opposition.

Syria, like many other middle eastern countries is a country of strong culture, history, and beauty. Unfortunately the corruption within their government has left innocent people no other choice but to flee due to the complete lack of regard for human life. Innocent people of Syria are forced out of their country due to attacks from every imaginable angle. The Syrian Government, ISIS, and the Syrian Democratic Forces are mainly responsible for these attacks; therefore, the citizens of Syria are left with no other option but to leave in hopes of achieving a safer life. For once was a land of cherished history is now a war zone due to these circumstances. Canada has welcomed innocent citizens of Syria into our country and I believe it is the right thing to do. Innocent Syrians are being killed due to a senseless war, women and children are being forced into sex slavery, even worse women are being raped in front of their own families.

The Syrian War has gone on for far too long and should come to an end because of the casualties. Over 400,000 people have died from the Syrian war. According to CNN, about 400,000 lives have been claimed in the war since it’s start in 2011.

The war against Iraq began on March 20, 2002, when the U.S lunched “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. This was after President Bush called Iraq part of an “axis of evil”, also calling the country dangerous which is threatening U.S with the world’s most destructive weapons. The major phase of the war began when U.S troops marched within 50 miles of Baghdad with heavy aerial attacks on Baghdad and other cities. After the attack on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon which was believed to be the work of Al Qaeda, U.S was concerned about the security of the Untied States which lead to the war in Iraq. Even though U.S officials felt the war in Iraq is the main priority, but many people in U.S opposes the war which brings up a lot of controversial issues.
