A hero to some is someone with superpowers, like Batman, who fights crime or Superman who is able to soar over buildings and save the day. My definition of a hero is somewhat different my hero can’t fly or fight crime, but manages to impact my everyday life. My hero is below average height, but has the strength that is admirable to many. The definition of hero is “a person who is admired for his or her great ways, special achievements, and fine qualities”. The person to fit this description is my grandmother Ana Santos.
My hero is my grandmother because she inspires us to follow our dream. Even though she was diagnosed with cancer, she always encourages us to keep on going. My grandmother moved to the Unites States when she was only twenty-two
“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain”. Harvey Dent believed these words he said in the closing scenes of Batman: The Dark Knight. This quote is said in a few words but has a meaning worth a thousand. It leaves the listener of the quote thinking what truly defines a hero from the villain in the world. It gives one the provocation of how they should live their life rather than how they do live their life.
Everyone has different opinions on what it means to be a hero and what it takes. The literal definition of a hero is “a person who is greatly admired” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary), and some people may agree with that. Others think that it takes more or different qualities to be a hero. Among these qualities are bravery, kindness, selflessness, determination, hope, and confidence. Those are just a few among many more traits. Qualities like those are found in many people, from the heroes written about in fiction, to the people who live in towns across the world. By saying this, it’s true that everyday people can be heroes, given the right time and place.
Heroes don't always wear capes. When you're a hero you should be trusted by with whatever you're doing or whoever you're with or heping. You should also be strong. When you’re a hero, you should be strong with everything. You may struggle, but in the end you are still helping everyone you can. A hero should be able to do something as simple as telling truth. They should be telling the truth so matter what even if you're very close with them. A hero is defined by being trustworthy, strong, and honest.
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionaries, a hero is “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities” (“Hero” def. 1). A hero is also “a person who is greatly admired” (“Hero” def. 2). While brave acts, fine qualities and admiration generally sum up what a hero is, I believe that these individuals who impact our daily lives deserve more respect and honor than what this simple definition gives them. A hero is someone who is genuine, valorous, and not afraid of self-sacrifice.
According to The Lincoln Writing Dictionary, a hero is a person who is admired by others for his or her excellent achievements or outstanding qualities. As mentioned by Webster’s New World Thesaurus, the expression hero refers to “brave,” “conqueror,” “victorious,” and “champion.” Such heroes possess “popular figure” and “courage.” The origin of the word hero comes from the Ancient Greek language usually defining what is considered superior and honorable. Typically the inclination to sacrifice themselves for what is best is the chief importance. In literature, it happens often that the hero suffers from disastrous flaws, leading to their downfall. These type of heroes are known as tragic heroes. The etymology of the word hero comes from the Greek work translating to “hero, warrior” one particular figure that come to mind when hearing the word, is Heracles because he has divine honors. Whereas the opposition to a hero, are terms such as “coward,” “slacker,” “weakling,” and “sneak.” A coward is one who is neither
Who is a hero for you, and why are they a hero for you? For many people often we see a hero on the tv, as in someone who has cape, someone who has strong muscles and can fly and also fights crime, but for others a hero is someone who is putting others before themselves even when they don’t need to, a hero can be anyone. For me, my hero is my mom for many reasons. A hero is noble, caring but is never harmful.
What does it mean to be a hero? A hero isn’t necessarily someone with superpowers or super strength. (It can be). A hero is someone who is loyal, does what is right, has a great personality, stands up for their beliefs, very generous, has the courage to do whatever they want, knows what is right, and is
Heroes are not people in comic books or movies. Heroes are people who protect the innocent and punish the guilty. They are all around us, but we do not always recognize them. We do not appreciate the sacrifices they make in able to keep us safe. Look at police officers always taking time from their families, working to keep the rest of us out of harm’s way. There are military officers deployed to help other countries in need and help them fight their enemies. Due to these brave actions, we are a strong and independent country. Heroes must possess imperative qualities that define them as above average such as humbleness, courage, and tenacity
Heroes are all around us not just the ones we see on TV, but the ones who are fighting for our freedom. Heroes are defined by many things that display their true identity through challenges they face. Some of the characteristics would be determination, patriotism, and courage.
Everyone wants to a hero, wants to be loved, want to have a crowd cheering their name, wants to have a chance at a happy ending. Naturally, media gives us the stories where we see the heroes we want to be. However, when only certain people get to be the hero, we naturally form ideas on who hero or heroine. And usually, it is not someone of color, someone in the LGBTIAQ+ community, someone who isn’t skinny or ripped, or someone who is not a man. The amount of heroes who fall into the old mold is staggering in all kinds of media. However, there is one type of media that all kinds of heroes, a character for practically anyone who has not seen a hero like them on any screen. Introducing the wide wonderful world of webcomics.
What is a hero? Is it someone with superpowers? Is it a person, who helps many people, during a crisis? Or is it a person with just a good heart? Well my hero might only be 2 of the 4 things listed above. The hero I am about to talk about, may better than all the Marvel and DC Comics heroes combined. The Flash or Quicksliver can’t beat this person when it comes to family. Batman can never be as resourceful as this particular person.(P.S. Sorry Batman, you're still my favorite DC hero!) Also Superman and the Hulk can never beat the strength of this character’s love.
“ I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people” (Maya Angelou). There are many heroes in many different cultures. Many people believe there are heroes around the world. Here is an example of a hero from a movie. In the Hungry Games, Katniss steps up for her little sister Primrose when she gets picked out of the bowl to fight in the hungry games. That is a heroic thing to do because she does not want her sister to die. We can learn about many heroes by reading books. There are many places people can go and visit to learn about heroes. There are many different heroes depending on your definition of a hero. My definition of a hero is a person who is brave enough to fight for the things that are wrong but need to be right.
There are many different types of heroes out there. There are the flashy heroes that do a good deed for you own sake but they also do it for their own benefit. However, the genuine heroes that act selfless for you is the kind of hero everyone needs in their life. A true hero is someone who is always there for you, day or night. A hero is someone who would never lie to you, and someone you can always depend on. The heroes I have in my life range from my parents, my doctor and my best friend. However the ultimate hero is the culmination of those three figures. Someone who cares for you like your parents do, saves you like a doctor does and also gives you the never ending support like a best friend does.
There are very few people in the world who haven’t had a hero to look up to at some point in their life. It doesn’t have to be red, white, and blue like superman, but maybe something more simple like a mom who works all day just to feed her children at night. Or maybe even a social activist, like Ghandi. According to Christopher Reeve, the actor for superman in the 80’s, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.”. Regardless of the image and form the hero comes in, they have always been around for many generations, for people of all ages. It might make someone ask, why do we have heroes? Why do we look up to a role model and hope to be like them one
My hero would have to be my father he has been there for me through countless things.
