In module 6, the part I found most valuable was the Deliberate Development Plan. I enjoyed learning about how to make a step by step plan to develop an Airman. Deliberate Development Plan is more than just mentoring an Airman by telling them to do something to help their career. From the module, I got to understand that Deliberate Development Plan involves breaking down a plan of action for a particular Airman to help him reach his goals. Deliberate is the time it takes to look over or talk about the goals carefully. Develop is to create or make the steps needed to reach the goals. Plan is the path you help the Airman to take to get to their goals. The reason I found Deliberate Development Plan most valuable is because when I first came in I did not have a mentor at all, let alone someone to give me a Deliberate Development Plan. Most importantly, I have a vital tool at my fingertips to bring back to my unit. I will be able to use this tool with my current troops to help with their personal and professional goals. Moreover, I will also be able to us it with all my new troops that come my way. I can also share with my peers so they may use it with their troops. Once I introduce the Deliberate Development Plan to my unit, we will be able to make the unit better by setting the troops on paths to better themselves, the entire unit, and also the Air Force by tailoring a plan for them. Self-development is an essential part of mission success and the welfare of the unit. A mission’s success predicates itself on the effective training of each individual. The leadership development plan for the MSARNG is essential to help regain the organization’s success in areas that were neglected following many years of war. The plan will focus on using training processes to develop leadership skills in a variety of areas. The plan will focus on being, knowing and doing what it takes to become a better leader. In order to be effective the leader development plan must be deliberate, sequential and continuous (Department of the Army, 2013). The plan will be tied to the core values and objectives which start with the individual leader. The training will be implemented throughout the entire organization to ensure the leaders understand how to correct the gaps and issues identified.
