Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for reading and writing. It is just something that has always come easily to me. So when eleven-year-old me walked through the dimly lit hallways of Johnsonville Elementary School, into a strange classroom, and sat in my boxed-in-desk and was told that I was writing a descriptive essay, I was extremely excited. It would be the first time that I had ever written a descriptive-based paper. Nevertheless, it was a newly-introduced challenge, and I was ready to take it on. “Okay class”, said the plump teacher standing in the front of the room, “I have been informed that each of you needs to write an essay for the state.” “I hope it is about monsters and astronauts!”, the student beside me said. …show more content…

“I then sat down in my seat and felt the cotton-lined cushions. They were the softest things that I had ever felt and I truly would never forget them”, I added. I then continued, “However, my experience was interrupted by a loud tra-”. Again, I didn’t like that. “There must be a better word than loud.”, I thought, “What is it though?”
I went through every possible word before I finally found the word that I liked. “However, my experience was interrupted by a screaming whistle. The train was getting ready to move and I needed to prepare myself for it” “That sounds a lot better!”, I said to myself. I kept writing. “I then felt the train shift forwards and we started going. I looked out of the window and saw the fluffy, Grey clouds of smoke rise above us.” “Just like she told us.” I wrote and smiled. “Not long after, I heard three bold knocks on the door of the train car that I was in.”, I wrote, “It was a man wearing a nicely tailored suit asking if I wanted some sweets. Of course, I couldn’t resist and took them up in a heartbeat.” I paused for a few moments, and continued “He ended up giving me some chocolate cupcakes with the most delicious frosting that I have ever had.” I started to lick my lips from just thinking about it. “When I finished the last one, I looked out the window and saw the train station.
