Different Interpretations Of A Privileged Life

As a white male living in the United States of America, one could say that I am privileged. However, whether or not I live a privileged life is a matter of comparison. There are certainly people who are more privileged, and absolutely people who are less. It is not likely that one will find the definition of a privileged life in a dictionary. Simply put, it is too hard to fit such a broad meaning into the three or so lines of an average definition. There are many different interpretations of the meaning, and this essay’s purpose is to explain the differences between them. People may look at their life in times of disparity and think to themselves that they do not lead a privileged life. The problem that lay within those people is that they are sitting in their heated home, laying on their memory foam mattress, and eating a warm home cooked meal. The reality of the situation is that there remain others with far worse situations than the one that particular person is in. Someone might make a choice to lead their life the way that a less privileged person would. For example, the documentary “Living on one” follows four college students who travel to Guatemala and live off one dollar a day. The four students say “We knew that we 'd never be able to truly replicate poverty but we did believe that this would be a valuable experience and a great way of sharing the stories of our neighbors as well.” They are correct in saying that for the reason that they got to leave after the
