It means recognising and understanding individual’s differences and embracing them, to allow people feel more valued.

The higher socio – economic groups are normally more likely to arrange gatherings and events, to introduce the younger generations to the variety of cultures, beliefs and values and therefore embracing them into the very community that they will shape in years to come.

Diversity is to value that we are all unique and yet similar. We have different needs, interests, learning styles, language and personality etc.

Diversity means to value and respect the differences and individuality of people. This means to embrace the differences between people and to treat a person’s race, culture, religious beliefs, age, sexual orientation, gender, physical and mental characteristics etc. with respect.

Diversity refers to the fact that we are all different. Even though people have many things in common diversity recognises that people also have a lot of differences. This can be differences in religion, age, gender, beliefs and many more things we come across in daily life.

What diversity means to me is each and every individual in this world is unique. No one is the same so that’s why learning about new cultures, languages, lifestyles, religion, beliefs and traditions is enjoyable for humans. If everyone were the same, life would be boring. The unique characteristics that people possess can be vastly different. I have an open mind and am willing to be educated by people with different cultures because it gives the opportunity to gain increased knowledge about their lives. Diversity- recognises that all though people have thing in common they are also different in many ways. Diversity therefore consists of visible and non-visible factors which include personal characteristics such as backgrounds culture, by recognising and understanding our individual differences and embracing them we can create a productive environment in which everybody feels valued.

Cultural conflicts and hate usually cause a divide within a nation. However, cooperation, inclusion and respect assist in uniting a country. Multiculturalism therefore strengthens a country, especially if there are programs that work towards promoting cultural understanding and eliminating racism. It also encourages all people to take part in the economic, political and social life of the society.

Diversity is an ongoing discussion in day-to-day life. Not many situations occur without diversity having a role.
