E100 TMA 04 Activity are planned to extend children learning and development area as they learn new words and able to build on their communication and language by describing and explaining what they are doing and asking question. This also extends their vocabulary example the children enjoy playing with weighing scales so I plan activities using different resources such as lentils instead of sand or dry pasta to learn numbers, sizes, quantities etc. Again activities are planned around sand and water play as it stimulates creativity, where children are encouraged to explore a range of resources to make something with wet and dry sand using their imaginations and sharing ideas. This helps children come out with all sorts of ideas …show more content…
Technology has and continues to impact on young children and as childminder I have a responsibility to ensure their experiences with technology are age appropriate and empowering for them. In my setting children have access to technology and play with all kinds of technology games in each play area. Children are influenced with the technology as they tend to exhibit it in their day to day activities. With reference to my appendix one, water and play areas have a few technology resources they play with, an example is the duck that changes colour in water. The children enjoy playing with it as they tend to get to shout out the colours and play the guess game amongst themselves to see who can guess the next colour. This encourages the children to talk to themselves and motivates them to think to get it right as children want to be the first to get things right. Other forms of technology such as the use of play stations and Xbox Kinect provide exciting and wonderful opportunities for children to learn and play at the same time. The use of motion sensors can measure how active children are whilst participating in a variety of sports such as long tennis, football, golf etc. The use of these monitors to measure the extent of children’s physical development can act as both an evaluating and motivating tool. These and other technological advancement impact positively on physical development if well
Another activity that I took part in was bubble painting. This was where I put paint in a tray and added water. Once this was mixed properly I got the children to use a straw and blow through it to make bubbles. Once the bubbles were there a piece of paper was placed over them to create a bubble effect picture. There were two different trays of which one was purple and the other one was orange. This is so that they were able to make their own choice on what colour they wanted to use.
This task will be beneficial to the child’s knowledge and my skills of communicating and assisting a child. The use and safety of technology is a significant factor that needs to be addressed to more children within our
Discussing the ethical issues that arise from introducing children to technology at an early stage (Australian Curriculum, 2015; Scherer, 2014; Goldfarb, 2002).
Although technology is the way the world is looking towards, younger children are more involved with playing with iPads, iPhones and iPods more than physical toys. It is proven that physical cognitive challenges require much more attention, control and concentration and are far more healthier for their developing brain. It puts children into a focused mind set than the children that sit on technology devices frequently. Children who still play with physical equipment are more likely to have a far better attention span and tend to pick up basic skills especially maths much more easier in their early learning
Beginning with functional play, this is important to have a setting dedicated to this form of play. According to researchers, Smilansky stated that functional play is using repetition in physical actions, language, and manipulation of objects, based on the need for physical activity. Functional play develops motor responses as well as both gross and fine motor skills. In the areas of learning through the manipulation of play, there should be “games” such as beanbag toss. In this the child can manipulate the beanbag, using their gross motor skills in which improving them. Stacking blocks is another way to achieve the outcome of
The resource that I have chosen to encourage children’s creative play is called Fun Town Kids. It is an app that can be played on an iPhone or iPad. The game consist of people walking along a street, the child can click on the person and take them into the shops. The first shop has a flower and the student is to water the flower, and give it sunlight by opening the window. The child is able to choose different flowers. The next shop the person on the street can go into is a puzzle shop. The puzzle is of the world, and the child can drag the puzzle pieces into the correct places. In this game, there is also a phone box where the child can drag numbers and place them where the numbers go on a telephone. The next shop is a hamburger shop, and
Are your kids addicted to technology?Do you wonder why your kids are so unhappy without it?A lot of this can be answered in the blink of an eye with no problem.Only if you make the choices and take the right approaches.that is what makes all the difference.
The most accurate method for measuring activity levels in children is accelerometry. Accelerometers are also effective in determining activity levels in toddlers (Cauwenberghel et al. 2011). The aim of this study is to use accelerometers to quantify activity levels in a contemporary representative sample of children 12-36 months in age, and
Each of which are necessary sensory inputs required for development, and are lost upon children who no longer pursue activities that provide physical stimulation. Some of these include the normal development of posture, bilateral coordination, and self-regulation. The aforementioned lack of motion and stimulus can also lead to sensory issues involving their tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive systems, leading to an inability to develop and understand movement patterns. Technology is borderline preventative in relation to the physical aspects of development in children, due to a lack of motivation that could potentially stem from the overuse of technology. The average American child’s health is beginning to decline at a marginal pace, and it can be systemically linked to; lack of sleep, less physical activity, mental overstimulation, burnout, and several other developmental problems. Many children now have televisions in their room which can hypothetically lead to lack of sleep, decreased physical activity, and shortened attention spans.
All children develop at different rates. However, they all develop in the same way. There are four major areas in which children develop and learn skills. They develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. The way children develop with their social and emotional skills tend to go hand in hand. All these ways that children develop can be effected by the use of technology in some way. With the increase of technology, the willingness of parents in letting their children use it increases. “But there’s still so much we do not yet know about the uses or misuses of new technologies” (Farber). “Diagnoses of ADHD, autism, coordination disorder, developmental delays, unintelligible speech, learning difficulties, sensory processing disorder, anxiety, depressions, and sleep disorders are associated with technology overuse, and are increasing at an alarming rate” (Rowan). These disorders can also affect the child in all the areas in which their minds develop and can be a hard battle for the children to fight.
For this task you need to identify 3 play activities for children of different ages. We want you to evaluate their effectiveness, identify the materials you need, why you have chosen the materials selected and any health and safety implications. (3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4) Please write a minimum of 300 words for this question.

A reason to why our modern technology is significant can be determined by the knowledge growth a child has had because of these advances. Toddlers are curious about the world around them and about learning because it is all new to them and so they are using their developing sense of initiative and creativity to absorb it. In a dumbfounding way, they are exploring their ability to create and communicate in a variety of ways like repeating all the words they hear, copying the movements of another human being or using their bodies to express their ideas or thoughts like dancing or singing. Since that is what children have been doing, digital technologies provide one more outlet for them to demonstrate their creativity and progress in learning. However, many believe that computers or any kind of device with internet access should not be for children of ages between four and below. Their argument would be that those devices are not appropriate or significant for them. They believe that children should use their imagination more often than letting a device ruin that. Except, this technology is not ruining their imagination. In fact, it is enhancing their imagination.
In what way does using the sensorial materials help the child’s whole development? Give examples
Children today are impacted by technology; some people believe that technology can be beneficial in a child’s life and others are strictly against it. Though, everyone is accustomed to their own beliefs when it comes to raising a child, and how they want their child to be educated. The main argument is should children or adults be involved with technology, and if so how much technology should they encounter within the day? There is a wide variety of educational and non-educational resources that technology offers to teachers, parents, and students, in moderation these resources can be beneficial to people educationally and socially.
