Eeyore figurines have brought color, decoration, and smiles to millions of people around the world. These adorable works of art are by majority of the population considered to bring happiness on many occasions. However, the stories and lives of the people who have contributed to making the pieces of this figurine are unfortunately not so pleasant. With that being said in this paper I would like to address the history behind making these figurines, the companies that contribute to the process, and hardships and cruelties that workers go through in order to create something that brings so much joy and happiness to so many individuals. The Walt Disney Company started in 1923 in the rear of a small office occupied by Holly-Vermont Realty in Los Angeles. Now there is an exact replica of the original casting that Jim Shore had made. Then once that casting is all cleaned of the silicone molding the craftsman will then proceed to paint the Eeyore figure using the colors requested by Jim Shore. DecoArt manufactures Americana acrylic paint. Paint is composed of pigments, solvents, resins, and various additives. The pigments give the paint color; solvents make it easier to apply; resins help it dry; and additives serve as everything from fillers to antifungicidal agents. Hundreds of different pigments, both natural and synthetic, exist. “Jim says he pays particular attention to teaching craftsmen his style of painting. I can't just say, 'Paint this red.' It may be red, but then there could be added orange, a float of burgundy and a glaze of purple to create the exact shade I want” (Jim Shore Bio).
