English 101 is much different than any English class I have ever taken. The theme of the class is to help you with your overall English skills. It is different for our class because while our class work is done online, we have the help of an in-class teacher who oversees our work and gives us tips and advice on how to do some of the work when we have questions.
There have been many different types of essays and papers that we have covered over this semester long course. This class was the first time I have ever written a blog. I feel the blogs were very good for us to get a feel of the structure of the class and how to deal with deadlines. I also found it very helpful doing the blogs at the beginning of the school year for us to get our minds

Peer reviews in the ENG 101 class were not much different than that of previous classes except the work level was elevated and in turn so are the reviews. The things you have to look for in a particular person’s paper and the frequency of finding these mistakes goes down as well. It was also very helpful being on the opposite end of the peer reviews. In receiving reviews from classmates, I learned of areas where I struggle in my writing that I had never even realized were a problem in prior years. You should not have a bad attitude when receiving reviews from someone. The reviews are to help you, not hurt you. If you have many reviews and many criticisms on your paper, you should use them to help you with whatever current assignment you are doing and also future assignments as …show more content…
I use more thought-out and intellectual words and sentence phrasing than I ever have before. I never felt the work to be too stressful as one may assume college would be. The essays were not too arduous. The entire writing part of the class was pretty easy due to the sources provided to us and the information that can gathered from other areas. For me, the only part that can sometimes be difficult is the technological side but it is very simple to submit your work. If you are already proficient with technology, you will have no issues. The technological skills you gain in this class will be extremely helpful in other classes beyond this one. With the advances in technology we experience every day, it is constantly becoming more prevalent in school work. You need to know more about technology than just writing papers. You also need to learn different types of research that is available online and also different types of formatting and writing styles certain teachers may require. If technology keeps advancing at the rate it is currently, it will be an even bigger asset to you in your future workplace than in college. The better you become now and over the next few years, the more prepared you will be when pushed out into the real world. My advice would be to make sure you stay on top of your work. If there is a project or paper due on Thursday
In the past two months i fell like i have accomplished a great deal. As i focus on it more i realize i have become a better reader. I did this by concentrating on my readings and take my time to read them. With the help of my professor and classmates i began to analyze what i read.
English 111 was the first class English class that I have taken since my senior year of high school in 2004. When I first signed up for the class I figured it was going to be a bit difficult with reading assignments, I was not expecting to be writing 3 to 5 papers every other week which I found to be hard at first.
My entire life, I have looked forward to math class; it has always made sense to me. Plugging numbers into an equation and solving for x always came easy to me. Outside of school, I enjoy reading. Easily, I could pick up a book and read the entire thing as time just flies by me. The books I don’t like to read are the ones that I am forced to read in a constricted amount of time. Before this year, I’ve never taken an honors English class; I was the smartest one in my CP class. I never challenged myself which is the reason I decided to take AP English. I didn’t put this on my schedule have my transcript look good, or to boost my GPA, I want to become a better writer. In 20 years, the skills I learn throughout this year will be more important
When we did peer reviews, then I notice that the teacher was not the only one making remarks in my paper. My classmate had difficult times to understand what I was writing. When I was asked to read my work aloud for others to follow, I noticed several grammatical errors. For the past four months, I learned several
The five-minute warning bell goes off. I rush to my first class of my junior year, eager to see my classmates, who I was going to spend the rest of the 9 months with. I find myself stumbling into a classroom plastered with decorations of Denzel Washington with a Dr. Seuss book in his hand, a t and college flags galore. My AP English 11 class suddenly seemed so appealing to me. As a beautiful, curly haired short lady stood in front of me and said “Welcome to AP English 11,” I knew that I had found a treasure so much greater than just a pretty classroom. Little did I know, that short lady was going to inspire me throughout my challenge filled second-to-last year of high school.
I learned a lot in this class during the semester. The first project was our learning narrative, it was not what I was expecting from a writing class. I expected we would be writing a many formal essays in MLA format with lots of sources and research. The first essay being a creative writing project was unexpected. At first writing a narrative from my personal experience was difficult for me. I had not written anything besides formal essays since high school. Writing something that was creative and expressive was an adjustment. After a few days of writing I began to really enjoy my learning narrative. I liked being able to express myself and my own experiences and share them with others.
I am here to go through some expectations regarding this AP course with you all as Mr. Spencer is away at a conference. The things I will go over are so that you understand what this class is about, specifically as it relates to the advanced placement aspect of it. As this is an AP English class it’s essential for you to have a basic understanding of how you are to structure content in an essay. This means I will explain what makes a strong thesis and how to back it up with a strong argument and rhetoric. All of this being said, I will also give you information on what exactly is generally expected of you in this classroom as a whole.
When you become one of those people who always receive A’s without having to try, you tend to underestimate how easy a class might be. In high school, I never got a grade lower than an A on a paper and never thought that it could be possible. I never really put in much effort on my papers either, but mainly because I did not have to and writing always came easily to me even though my grammar was not the best. In no way am I trying to be boastful, there is a warning for others who come into an English 111 class who are just like me. After taking English 110 this past spring and breezing through it, I thought that English 111 would be the same. During the first week of classes I realized that I was most definitely wrong. Realizing that I was
January of 2017 I started taking an English Comp II class. I was very hesitant about it because I knew I wasn't so good in writing. Coming into the class with a little bit of knowledge was good but I still am not a good writer or where I should be at this point. All the assignments the teacher give is kind of complicated for me because i just can’t come up with ideas to help me start and get through my paper. I wish i could focus better and be able to write papers.
During the course of Mrs Wagner's Accelerated English 10 class I learned a tremendous amount. I learned all about things such as TIQA, ANT, verb tense. I also learned a gamut of vocabulary words. So over the course of the first semester I blossomed as a writer and Mrs Wagner showed me the hidden talents within my brain.
In conclusion, we have learned a lot about diversities and different cultures in this English 1050 class, including all the different students that we learned about through the weekly discussions. I love to read the weekly post because everyone has different opinions that I can learn. I came from Asia and living in America, and I think in my life experience, I experienced a lot about the diversity and ethnicity issue. To change that and use Ethnicity to bring people together is the big issue nowadays. Might to find some common ground and realize we are all the same. At the very core of our being, we are people, and it is up to us to find ways we can unite and become stronger as a complete whole. Finally, thanks for everyone who fought with
I learned a very broad variety of English skills in my English 101 class. From the time of doing research before writing an essay, I wrote from the reader’s perspective, considering first what the reader would be benefited from hearing. I discovered methods of writing so that the reader would be able to easily follow my ideas and see connection between them. Along with that, I learned to actively read what others have to say, alter my writing based off of them, and courageously participate in the academic conversation. During this English 101 class, I acquired necessary English skills to participate in the academic conversation.
This class was very interesting seeing how it was only eight weeks of the semester. It was a little difficult for me to get started with the essays seeing how there was an essay due every other week. Coming to class every day made it very easy for me to learn the skills to main and keep the tasks in line to make sure I get everything done well and on time. The conversations in class on different ways we can express ideas helped even more in other class for me creating a clear thesis statement. Once the thesis statement, the paper would be able to write itself out with just me having to cite information.
When I first started the class I was struggling a lot. Since English is my second language, I had many stressful moments that made me think about dropping my classes. But when I thought about my future, I just kept studying even harder, waiting for my performance to improve. As a result, I felt like every time I wrote an essay, it got easier, which tells me that I’m on the right path. In addition, this class has helped me improve my grammar, taught me an important life lesson about sticking on my goal and helped me to enhance my computer skills
My junior year I was pretty nervous hearing the word college class, worrying that it was going to be harder than any other english class I would of been able to take. But I knew I needed to take the class it would look better on college applications and would get me a better idea how a college class would be, so I would be ready for next year. Something I have learned so far in my English 1101 class, to always read your paper two or three times because you could always miss a mistake that could make or break your grade peer editing is so important. There has been some challenges throughout the semester my biggest thing has been in my papers I have had many run on sentences that I had no idea to fix. If my teacher didn't teach me how to check for it. My papers have improved a lot since I have seen the actual mistakes that I have made because I never had a teacher that peer edited and then showed me how to fix, I never knew how to fix it until now. I plan to improve on my organization in my papers because sometimes I get off track i’ll be talking about something then go straight to a complete different topic. I’m hoping I will improve on that by the end of the year. I plan to improve on many other things in my papers, I know that I have a teacher that will help with my papers.
