11. GRADING AND OTHER METHODS FOR ASSESSING STUDENT ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE:
Grade Determination: Lecture counts 75% and lab 25% of your final course grade. You must pass BOTH lecture and lab individually to receive a passing grade for the course.
The lecture component will be graded based on performance on weekly quizzes and the four exams. Exams 1-3 will each count 19% (19 points) and the final exam will count 28% (28 points) toward the final lecture grade. The weekly quizzes will count 15% (15 points) toward the final lecture grade.
There will be no extra credit for this course.
Your laboratory grade will be determined by the lab instructor.
Make-up for a missed exam will be allowed only with the presentation of a valid excuse (I will be the judge; a doctor’s certificate will be necessary in case of ill health). It is unfair for some people to have more time to prepare for an exam than others. Make ups have to be taken within one week of the missed test.

“Is it worse to kill someone than to let someone die?” – James Rachels. At the end of the disagreement, many philosophers say euthanasia, also known as physician-assisted suicide, is a compassionate method of death. At the other side are the opponents of euthanasia, who may consider this technique as a form of murder. In this paper, I will show that it is not important to know the distinction between killing and letting die on request which is performed by a physician. Both killing and letting die on request are similar because it is based on the controversial issue called euthanasia also known as physician-assisted suicide.
Three examinations will be administered. The exams will consist of multiple choice questions and problems. Problems will be similar to those covered in class or those given as homework assignments.

Assessment is carried out through formative (checks throughout the course), ipsative (to test against previous marks), and/ or summative (at end of course) activities to help the learner see their development whilst allowing the Assessor to give valuable feedback when appropriate. It’s purpose is to measure the learners understanding of the subject against the anticipated outcomes set by the criteria.
Mr. McClean, our network’s Director of Student Information Systems, provided key information about Miriam’s calculated grade. When we manually calculated her score with assigned weights to Classwork (50%), Homework (10%), Quizzes (25%), and Tests (15%) and without dropping her lowest score, her grade was a 63%. The formula that we used was:
Student Assessment/Rubrics: Students will be assessed through observation during direct instruction and demonstration of knowledge on guided practice and individual practice. Students must score 80% out 100% on the individual assignment to demonstrate mastery.
1. There is no make-up or early exams. Check your schedule to make sure you will be able to attend the midterm and final exam.
Grade Calculation: Each quarter and the final exam will count as 20% of the final year grade. Students

Teachers may deduct points for incomplete or late work and may add points for class attendance and participation. The grading standards include research, citations, writing style, legal analysis, sentence and paragraph structure, and grammar.
