1. What role did Abraham play in Jewish history?
Abraham was a man who was visited by the Lord and was promised prosperous lands (in Egypt), bear children, and bring about a great nation; however, the Lord required Abraham to do tasks in order to prove his allegiance. Of the tasks, Abraham was told to circumcise himself and his sons within eight days after being born. Abrahams first child was from his servant Hagar, a son, named Ishmael. Ishmael was a major part of the Islam faith and the Arab nation during its upcoming. Abraham’s second son came from his wife, Sarah, and was named Isaac. Isaac a major character in the upbringing of Judaism and Hebrew culture. The Lord continued to test Abraham through rigorous tasks including sacrificing his own son which the Lord promptly told him to stop before the deed was finished. All in all, Abraham seemed to be punished or “tested” at a much higher rate than his rewards where given and played the first man to communicate with the lord in Jewish history. …show more content…

Historians should consider the bible as a work of not only one author or book, but instead, a work of various writers and books. Also, historians have to bring into consideration how the bible was revised, rewritten, and finally printed. The events that originated in the Bible might be questions due to its lack of credibility; however, must still be seen as a historical figure.
