Through this action plan I think I have developed both professionally and personally. I have developed professionally because I was given a chance to work with elderly people and this gave me a taste of what nursing would be like. I want to be adult nurse and so working with elderly people have given me a chance to develop my knowledge that would be helpful in my professional life. This target has helped me personally because it taught me that respect isn’t something that you ask from people, it is something that you get when you treat others as the way you wanted them to treat you.
For instance, learning the intricacies of the Merit-Based Incentive Program has allowed me to grow as an administrator. It has given me the confidence and knowledge to provide my practice with the exceptional resources that are needed in order to succeed within the healthcare field. I have also learned how to develop a program proposal that would be implemented into our organization in order to solve our underlying problem. Here I have learned how to organize devise a detailed timeline as well as develop a plan with significant resources to create a successful program. Therefore, learning these skills has been crucial to my development as a healthcare administrator because not only do I have the tools to implement a thriving program, but I also know what methods I should use to measure the overall success. Lastly, it has come to my attention that choosing a topic that is crucial to healthcare reform is important because we need to stay up-to-date with these changes in order to create a powerful and prosperous environment for our healthcare
Creating action plans and reflective practice has helped me develop both personally and professionally. Through the duration of my health and social care course, looking back at the goals I had set myself in the beginning some were more realistic than others. However, an action plan gave me a better way of how to progress with my goals and targets. Designing an action plan in order to fit my individual needs also developed my organisational – being
What have you learnt about your own practice and/or development needs I have learnt about my setting policies and procedures and how to implement them. |
1.3 Identify a range of learning and development opportunities which support the achievement of the personal development plan
The purpose of the APN professional development plan is to apply skills and knowledge attained for individual and professional growth. The professional development plan is a strategy to ensure the promotion of excellence in APN practice as well as a continuation to strengthen advanced nursing practice throughout the career. Creation of a development plan will help you advance in a particular goal, objective, or position. There is an ever-increasing need for APNs to keep learning and keep up with the rapid changes regarding legislation affecting health care policy, quality of and access to care, and issues surrounding advanced practice nursing. Therefore, it is critical to be proactive and take personal responsibility to develop skills for your own growth and development. New skills and knowledge augment motivation in supporting activities including communication, education, research, recognition, and advocacy.
The change plan forms used encouraged them to not only identify steps that they could take but people who could be supports as they worked toward making those changes. While there were a lot of change plans filled out, not everyone succeeded the first try with their identified goal. There were several successes noted during the course of this practicum. One client, who is able to read and write at a 3rd grade level, can now list his medications, how many milligrams each medication is and what he take them for. The is another client who had been very aggressive who has been able to learn more assertive ways to communicate with others and finally one last client who has been working toward earning money to pay child support and wanting to move out on her own who got a job. These things were all noted by staff on the RCF. They were pleased to see a positive change in those individuals. Unfortunately, I had to come to the realization that I was not going to magically fix everyone. I am, however, proud of the progress and positive changes that some have
I have learned the value of competencies that quantify my nursing interventions in the daily care of my patients. I also have a better understanding of how reflection on work experiences gave me insight into the critical thinking and lessons learned from my decisions.
Activity 3 – Ability to reflect on own practice and development needs and maintain a plan for personal development
This personal development plan is important for me in that it will allow me to see how I fit in an organization, and actually be able to reflect on my characteristics. My ultimate goal in life is to become an entrepreneur. I’m not sure what industry I want to be in quite yet, but I know my end goal. My dad, since I was little, has drilled it into my mind that I should be in a business where I’m still making money when I’m not physically at work. That notion has stuck with me and I’m trying to take an emergent strategy to get there.
The Personal and Career Development program helped me in successfully implement strategy that helped me in learning how to explain, evaluate, and learn from our experiences. This program helped me understand how to differentiate between conclusions, assumptions, and actual data based on the description. Further, it assisted me in discovering multiple ways to represent data and helps in making decision about actions, which are appropriate.
Question: How has my project work this semester contributed to my development as an emerging professional?
I have a pretty good idea what I want to do career wise in the future. I do not want to limit myself to just one particular career because I have many career interests. I believe I would be able to work at some of them in different stages on my life. As some of my options build off each other meaning, for some I need about 10 years experience in the field and other I just need maybe a few months and a degree. So I would be able to work at the lower level, such as: Business Consultant, Human Resource, Budget Analyst, ones as I begin in the work force to get my experience up and then one I gain the experience I would be able to work at the high jobs such as: Chief Financial Officer, Certified Public Accountant, and CEO.
Uncertainties in America’s job market have inspired many professionals to reconsider their career path. In doing so, many people have found that the healthcare industry is an excellent choice because the field continues to grow and never stopped doing so, even when the rest of the job market declined. Nursing is one of the most common choices within healthcare; according to the US Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of May 2013 there were 2,661,890 registered nurses in the United States. However, there are some aspects of the job that are more difficult than people may initially consider, especially the high stress level associated with this profession. When the demands and pressure of a job are high, it can impact employees in a negative way, in turn compromising the level of care they deliver to their patients.
Coaching: Coaching is evaluating the employees and company's needs and furnished them with the vital information, aptitudes and expertise to accomplish company's goals. A mentor or a coach is a consultant who directs the individual to perform better or to learn new techniques on the best way to do tasks. A manager in an association will help enhance the working performance of the workers if the manager has the skills in the most proficient method to coach. A good performance mirrors a good coach. Workers will have a high respect for themselves if they know the details of how a certain task can be finished. Being a manager, I try to work hard and try to finish my task on time. At my restaurant I try to be a motivation for my workers. For me, an effective coaching will help workers as well as for the organization's targets to be figured it out. Worker viability also depends how they are prepared skillfully, either by instructing or coaching, and positive guiding ("Personal and professional skills, my weaknesses and strengths," 2015).
As I reflect on my personal development plan and skills gap analysis, I realized everybody has dreams but not everyone works to achieve those dreams. I have always dreamed of becoming a successful manager and I knew it could only be achieved by knowing and studying the foundation of being an effective manager, which is the reason I choose to obtain an undergraduate degree in Business Management and currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration, which will serve as the basis for my ongoing personal development plan.
