Assignments a. Outline the amount of time spent on factually examining new health care changes or other health care issues. In the “Face the Nation” news program aired in January 15, 2017, four analysts including Bloomberg’s John Heilemann, Washington Post’s Ruth Marcus and Ed O’Keefe, and The Federalist's Ben Domenech discuss the political landscape of America a few days before president Trump’s inauguration. The four analysts discussed a number of issues including Obamacare, cabinet picks and some of the challenges that Trump could face in office. The full episode of “Face the Nation” was about 13 minutes and the faculty spent approximately two minutes from about 11:02 to 13:02 discussing Obamacare as shown below; - 11:02 – 11.12 – the host asks the panelists about their opinion on what president Trump meant when he said that he would repeal and replace the Obamacare act and that the act would be much better and less costly. - 11:13 – 12:00 – Domenech responds by saying that Trump has made numerous promises and that he is likely to demand a lot of input from republicans and the congress on the Obamacare repeal issue. - 12:00 – 12:22 – Heilemann responds by saying that it is not possible for any major reforms to be done …show more content…
For health practitioners, the repealing of the act would mean that practitioners will need to deal with a new set of guidelines regarding healthcare provision. For the general population, the repeal of Obamacare would mean that people will no longer be forced to obtain medical insurance coverage if they do not want to. Besides, businesses and individuals who find Obamacare costly in terms of purchasing insurance will no longer carry the cost. For the rest of the population that is uninsured or poor, a repeal of the act will make healthcare much more difficult to
The beginning of the article started off very strong with the Republican views on how replacing theAffordable Care Act/ Obamacare seems to be beneficial because Americans believe that the government needs to provide healthcare for all which is “Medicare for all.” Throughout government; the left and right sides do not see eye to eye but in this discussion, they both seem to acknowledge the likelihood of this new system.
The individuals likely to opt out of insurance are those who are young and healthy. However, without healthy people paying into the system, insurance companies are forced to raise rates for ill patients in order to make a profit. In this situation, those with long-term health conditions may not be able to afford treatment. For example, a family of four could find a monthly plan for as little as $433 with a $0 deductable, but only if they were to receive regular treatment and medication. A plan like this would not cover treatment like chemotherapy, which can cost over $10,000 for a single course. With Obamacare, families can afford to buy insurance that will cover treatments for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. If Trump succeeds in repealing the ACA it could leave sick patients with no choice but to decide between inevitable death or financial ruin.
One of the biggest issues in America today is his next issue “Health Care” which he basically degrades Obamacare and is pushing his parties Patient Care Act. It is not clear in his statement what exactly that act is other than it will be better than what we have now. Not enough information to make an informed decision on which would be more benefit other than it is his opinion that it would
The Republicans first priority with Trump becoming the new president is to repeal Obamacare and to start the process by developing a reconciliation bill and to take a final vote in the beginning of February. Although, many Democratic lawmakers in Washington, DC are still trying to slow the process as much as possible by proposing many amendments to the table. Furthermore, Republican Senate Budget Committee chairman Mike Enzi suggests that the program has caused more harm than good by causing many businesses across the country to withdraw from the market and to leave many families with much less options than before to obtain the care that they need. In Conclusion, the result of repealing Obamacare will cause the elimination of fundings
This is not about healthcare. In my view the Affordable Care Act is failing two years in advance. But that's not this issue. It is about whether any White House not just this one can ignore repeatedly the explicit directions of Congress that no dollars will be spent on a specified program. This is what is at the heart of this, whether you are a Republican or Democrat you ought to be interested in this report and in this power. Because at that point there’s no need for a legislative branch, any White House not just this one can choose which programs to fund and which to

The United States is the only major industrialized nation without universal access to health care. The U.S. government spends twice as much per capita of any Nation on healthcare, nearly 17% of its gross domestic product, but fairs no better on health outcomes and preventable death. Which happens to be the reason I chose this topic for my research paper, a complete lack of understanding for what is probably the most comprehensive reform of the U.S. medical system in at least 45 years. After almost a century of failed attempts to pass a national health insurance by both republican and democratic presidents the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act also commonly known as ObamaCare was signed into law by President Barak Obama on March 23, 2010 and will be
The positive effects that will come about from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act are so numerable it would take hundreds of pages to discuss. One important change will come about by lifting the patent protections on prescription drugs. The bill allows the Food and Drug Administration to approve more generic drugs, thus causing competition in the market to drive the prices downward. This in itself would lower the United States drug prices from being an astounding 35% to 55% higher than other countries to actually being competitive at a fair market value.
He also explained why he was unable to do everything from in 2010. This explains why the donkey is saying "roll it out!!" And the elephant is saying "roll it back", while they're pushing the huge ,round, blue pill back and forth. The pill has a phrase on it that says "Obama care", which represents the patient protection affordable care act new policies that was supposed to be rolled out in less than a month. The Caucasian male beneath the pill represents the Americans, and the legal residents of America who are being affected by every decisions that the republicans and democrats
In the scholarly article, The many consequences of repealing Obamacare, by Merrill Goozner. They explain and go into depth on what Obamacare is, how it affects the government and people and how it affects different parts of society. She/he claims that if we repeal the Obamacare act not only will many Americans not have access to healthcare, but that prices for health care will go up regardless. Meaning employers will have to cover the cost.
Trumpcare has been a failed attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Much of the promises made by Trump were hollow. Promising more coverage for less money already seems impossible. However, when the Congressional Budget Office did an estimate of the cost of the bill it was made even clearer that the plan was a fluke. Over the course of a decade the bill would cut a total of $880 million from Medicaid. Eventually the plan would cause 53 million Americans to lose their health insurance coverage, 14 million of this total would be
How Trumpcare Would Affect Medicaid and Why That’s Dividing Republicans. (2017). Daily Intelligencer . Retrieved 18 September 2017, from http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/03/trumpcare-offers-states-short-term-money-for-long-term-cuts.html
Although most Americans are not happy with their healthcare, Obamacare should not be repealed because its repeal would result in coverage loss, prices to rise, and it would take a step backward in health care rather than solving the main concerns Americans have about health care.
On this episode of Face the Nation, government officials were interviewed on their thoughts and opinions going on with the current issues in our government at the end of this month and they talked about Republicans disagreeing with Trump’s decisions with tax reform. The other issues that were discussed were Russian interference from the previous election with investigations taking place for this issue and Trump’s declare for a national emergency for the opioid crisis. Each person interviewed takes their own stand on what they think will happen because of these problems going on and what should happen for each issue going on in the U.S.
Frank O’Connor’s “Guest of the Nation” is a story about the pull between a man’s duty to his nation and his loyalty to his friends. The Irish guards are forced to choose between their duty of shooting their English “hostages” (O’Connor 89), or maintain their loyalty to their friends. Bonaparte, Noble, and Donovan are put in charge of guarding Hawkins and Belcher, as the story progresses the men leave behind the traditional soldier and hostage relationship and, a bond of friendship and loyalty forms. When the guards finally get orders that they must shoot their new “chums” (85), everyone is surprised, thinking it’s a joke, and don’t want to carry it out—except Donovan who is firm on where his duty lies. In the end, duty to their nation prevails
