It fascinates me how the Fashion Marketing industry has such a strong influence on consumers and current and future trends. By going to university, I want to be equipped with skills in strategic, retail and multi-channel marketing and by the end of the course, have all the necessary marketing management skills crucial for a career in the fast-paced world of fashion. I want to work in this industry because I am interested in style, culture and people and also for the reason that fashion has evolved into an expression of personality, rather than just a commodity.

All of these activities also require dependability and persistence, which are vital skills for the fashion marketing industry as the job involves being reliable, responsible and the persistence to face obstacles. I have been working in a delicatessen for over two years now, so I have acquired skills like leadership and customer and personal service. I have also been provided with knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling products and services. I also developed my understanding of these principles when I did work experience in Dorothy Perkins, which is when my initial interest in Fashion Marketing began. I especially enjoyed the visual merchandising of new stock for each seasonal change and style. In addition, I liked making each new range more aesthetically pleasing for the customers. Working in this major retailer, I developed an understanding of how a business attracts its customers. Growing up my thoughts and decisions constantly have changed from one to another. I never can really stay to a plan for so long without changing my mind. However, what I have found that has kept me grounded and staying on course is fashion design and retail. I am able to express myself through this medium and eventually I plan on becoming a fashion retail buyer myself. Also, I want to be involved in promoting campaigns and advertisements for the newest trends. One of the many highlights of this job is being able to travel to different states and even countries to attend trade fairs as well as visit certain suppliers.
